How do I play map packs like the Quake 2 25th Anniversary Edition with the Quake 2 Remaster Version

I have tried doing exactly what the instructions say but it is not working.

Knowing that I am a Quake 2 map and mod noob is probably not helping either.

I do not care if you have to talk to me like I am a child as I would just like to experience the fan made content.

Please assist and thank you.
Have you considered a source port, or are the pointless cheevos that important to you?

I have used source ports for games and appreciate them, but what is the 2nd part you are talking about?

I'm not sure why you can't just put the maps into the source port and leave the Bethesda "work" behind?
(Context, I only loosely grok how Quake I & II work.)

^_^ That was my second thought but I figured why not try to have an all in one.
