Lord_Kane: disregard the remaster, the new addon isnt worth it, and quakespam spiked offers a superior experience.
From what I've seen so far the level design of the new episode is high quality stuff and Quakespasm is kinda outdated by now and replaced with Quakespasm-Spiked or vkQuake (both offer higher framerates than normal Quakespasm).

Also with the music back in this new version the DMCA problems of the past shouldn't be a thing anymore (until the license runs out or whatever). Maybe this enhanced version doesn't run that well at the moment but there is always the option to release patches in order to improve things. I would rather see this new version here instead of that ugly abomination that is Quake 2 RTX.

I meant to state quakespasm spiked and is it? who did the new episode? and did they get the Trent Reznor music back for real? or did they get some rando for it?

People from MachineGames did the new episode just like they did DOPA (Dimension of the Past) some years ago and yes the OST is included again by default for the main game and also for both expansions Dissolution of Eternity and Scourge of Armagon.

Two years? What optimism...

Night Dive is still busy repackaging their Linux port of Turok 2 for GOG, don't hold your breath for them to get around to Quake any time soon.

There is still the quake mods that essentially make it just as good
Microsoft/Bethesa's excuse is it to just add DRM it seems for me.

Good news, while I'll prbly still gonna prefer the original version I still fancy the thought of trying the enhanced one out. Plus there's a chance that the MP get's some sort of revival.

I see this new version as some kind of test if there is still interest in Quake. When this does well we might get a new one at some point (may it be a Remake or a Quake 5). Also I'm less interested in the new KEX engine port itself but more in playing the new episode that's included. I'm sure at some point the creators of Quakespasm/Quakespasm-Spiked/vkQuake will figure out how to make it work in those source ports too.
