Good day. I'm making new high-poly models for Quake 2 with old-styled view and details. I remade all weapon models and now making monsters and weapons for addons. You can check progress here: moddb.com/mods/quake2-remodel or (check "Quake 2 Weapons Remodel" at moddb)
My models using md3 format, so, they can be used only with source-ports, like q2xp, berserker@quake2 and kmquake2.
With these models and source-ports you can achive great level of graphics, like at ue4 engine (q2xp) or doom3 (bers@q2). Even at more traditional source-port (kmquake) you can see difference in game - new models madede from scratch and they dont have "flowing jelly vertexes" like at original game models (its because of md2 format).
