That's also an option but I myself won't be using it. I do use GZDoom for Doom and Aleph One for Marathon though.

I can't think of a reason not to use it. It's easier to set up, more compatible, and offers a greater feature set, including playback of .ogg, .wav, or .mp3 files for soundtrack playback (the latter is an absolute must, in my opinion).
