Here is a simple guide explaining how you can either:

a) burn the CD images onto CDs

b) mount the CD images with virtual CD drives

After installing Quake, go to C:\GOG Games\Quake

Here you will find the following BIN/CUE files:

game.cue and game.gog
gamea.cue and gamea.gog
gamed.cue and gamed.gog

Just burn the cue files with a burning software of your choice or mount them with Daemon tools for example :)

From there on, hopefully these CDs work on real DOS machines and with Quake engines. I will test it on real DOS machines, it's kind of my thing, but not sure about Quake engines. Maybe someone else can help out :)

Doesn't DOS Box allow you to mount the images directly? It's just the windows version that's not allowed to do that at the present.

That's how it's setup.

But people might want to play it on a real DOS PC, or use it in other ways.

also mounting the cd image will let the game have music in GLQUAKE.EXE

I dont know why mine isnt mounting the music, or even if it supposed, buts it not.

I'm playing off the burnt CD with GLQuake 0.97. Music works, demos play, but you need a shortcut to set the resolution. I'm using a custom resolution and these options:

-width 1440 -height 1080 -bpp 32

If you just want to hear the music, all you need to do is rip the audio tracks from a retail CD and name them Track02. ogg and up.

Then remove the _ from the _winmm.dll file that's found in tthe main install directory and you should be good to go.

I have tried mounting the cue file with dtools but the music still does not load for me. Has anyone else had this issue? Maybe the game needs to be configured to point at the virtual drive somehow?

Someone mentioned, maybe in another thread, that it has to be the first optical drive. Do you have a real drive? Burn the disc and see if it plays. I guess you could shuffle the drive letters around and see if that gets it going.

The other option is just ripping the audio files. I cover this in another thread, in a YT video.

I swapped my physical drive letter and the dtools virtual drive letter (old: physical=d virtual=e) (new: physicali=e virtual=d) and now I'm rocking NiN.

Is this for playing through GLQuake?

Do you happen to know what this dll file does?

At least when you use Quakespasm, this step doesn't seem to be necessary.

Hey Phil, If it helps, I'm playing GLQuake. I'm not sure about what _winmm.dll is. Maybe Hedwards knows?

winmm.dll fakes a DVD Drive for just the .exe's in the directory of the .dll and plays music off of the hard drive in the "MUSIC" location in the game files.

can i listen to the cd tracks with VLC/foobar2000 if i mount the game.cue/game.gog? it does not seem to detect any tracks.

None of these methods work. I've tried mounting the .cue images, tried ripping the audio files to the MUSIC folder, tried changing the extensions to .ogg, tried removing the _ from _winmm.dll. Absolutely nothing. Is there any goddamn fix for this bullshit?

With some games music works only when these files are mounted in D: not other
