I just bought this game (well more precisely I just bought this game 2 hours ago) & when it got through downloading (which it just did) it told me that nothing on my PC could open the files & deleted the (rather large) file from my PC before it even got installed..... so it seems that not only my time but my money has been wasted by this site. Thanks alot for the "sale" guys.

So redownload it.
I as well as most the users on this site can assure you this site isn't a scam. When you downloaded the files did you select save as or just open? You need to save as and put all the files into the same folder. It should have a setup.exe file and a .bin or two. Once you have them all in the same folder you double click the setup file and install the game.
The Psychonauts installation requires three files- two bin files and the actual setup executable (the smallest of the three files). You need to save all three files to your hard drive then run the executable to install the game.
Yeah, I can assure you that this site does not scam it's customers. Either you missed some of the required files and need to download all of them, or else your file got corrupted during download (which happens from time to time) and needs to be downloaded again. I've bought loads of stuff from this place and they always deliver what they promise.

$10 says you tried to run the installer from the web & the files are still in your webbrowser's temp folder. And then in full noob fashion you come on here to blame GoG for your lack of computer knowledge. Way to go!

A further ten says that you haven't bothered to look at the other posts in this forum, where you'd see that the OP has since posted a further question, indicating he has moved past this issue. And then you began a sentence with "And". And then you shows up late to the party, but flamed anyway.

All fun and games this flaming lark isn't it.

Indeed, he has. That doesn't prove he wasn't hostile and ignorant in his original post... and then didn't bother telling us HOW he resolved his issue (either out of laziness or because he didn't want to admit how wrong he was).

I wasn't wrong. I kept downloading the same damn files until they finally decided to work. In other words... the files were getting corrupted at some point during the (lengthy) download & only through diligence was I even able to get to play the game in the first place.

I'm wondering... do you have trouble getting large downloads to work from ANY site, or was it only from GOG? Because I used to have a similar problem on my old computer, and later found out that large files I tried to download from ANYWHERE were getting corrupted 9 times out of 10. I don't usually download large files from anywhere but GOG so at first I thought it was a problem with GOG. Turned out it was a problem with my RAM. My computer worked fine so I had no idea, but it caused large downloads to get corrupted, and unpacking or unzipping large files to fail. That was the only sign of any problem, it was really weird.. but sure enough, testing my RAM revealed that it was failing (either that or my motherboard was failing). I could eventually get downloads or unzips to work by repeating them over and over and getting lucky, but most of the time they would fail.

I hope that isn't your problem! I have since built a new computer, and all my downloads from GOG, including Psychonauts, worked the first time, no repeats required. I can understand your frustration but I don't think the problem is with GOG's files.

There was a different post on this subject on this forum. I suggested they try the following tool: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ccorr/ . It should in theory allow you to take 3 corrupt downloads, and merge them into one working file. This works on the basis that the same corruption will not appear in the same place twice, so it takes the parts of the file that have at least 2 matches.
@Waltorious

I don't normally have problems downloading large files at all...

I got Fallout: New Vegas the other day off of Steam & didn't have a single problem with the download
I'd have to agree with the OP. The way you download games on this site is ridiculous. I did everything, even used the gog downloader which i needed to get Adobe air for and it's still broken. I see 2 bin files and a garbage file called ".gogdownload" I've even redownloaded the setup file numerous times to the same folder as the bins. it just disappears! lol! It's there then it goes away as fast as it came, Super buggy. I'm done with this site.

Hope your not done yet and are willing to give it one more try...

Try renaming the file psychonauts_part0.gogDownload to setup_psychonauts.exe. Please note that the if the name is different than this you will get a "file corrupt" error. It worked for me.

Also note that I have bought and downloaded 60+ games here and this was the fist time I had a download problem.

I recently purchased Unreal Tournament 2004, and I can't get any of the bin files to run after downloading them. EVERY single time I get the "corrupt file, try another download" message. I used the GOG downloader, also. That's just shitty maintenance on GOG's part. Now I'm trying to get my $10.00 back. What's the point in downloading a game that was customized to work on newer operating systems, if the files are all corrupted? It's just B.S., and GOG just lost a customer. Way to go!
