I've been wanting to start a thread which celebrated that gog.com's version of the game has finally been updated to be on parity with the latest official version, since there's no sticky for it, oddly.

The good news: it's been updated and works much better! The graphics are nicely scaled and many of the audio glitches and crashes aren't occurring any more. However, there are still some audio glitches (mostly it clips out every now and then) and I'm suffering a crash at a certain point, again.

Where I crash is in Bonita's subconscious, particularly on the third scene in her play. The first crash I had was when it was transitioning in from the tragic version of events from the boat. The second crash was when I was in the comedic version of events, not during a transition, though. This time I was jumping using the levitation thought ball towards the scene (the one with water in the foreground) and I crashed mid-air. I'm not sure how common crashes are in this area and I'm not much for bug reports, so I'm hoping some other users can chime in here.

The OS I'm using is Mac OS 10.8.5. The machine I'm using is a mid 2012 Macbook Pro with Nvidia 650M graphics.

Does this mean the patch that scales back the difficulty of the final level is finally applied here?

Honestly, I don't know, but the final level in this version is absolutely playable. The probably most difficult parts of the game are two tricky jump and climb sequences in the final level, namely the "Meat Circus - Escort run" and the "Acrobat run". The final boss fights are pretty standard once you know what to do.
