I understand Desura has almost been forgotten, but I got the game for the DRM-free version, now that it has been released in GOG as DRM-free, do we need to purchase it again?

FYI; I own it on steam and have played well over 140 hours, and countless more on the Desura version, but the Desura version is no longer being updated (not that I can see) I am not asking for a free copy, just wondering how that is going to be addressed if at all.

Due to what happened with Desura, if possible we'll try and give people the choice of which alternate service they move to. However we're still just getting going with the newly released Games in Development so still have to find out how to deal with this. I'm sure we'll have discussions with GOG in the upcoming days and figure out how we can deal with this but given that GOG and Desura share more in common it'd be nice to give people the option of jumping here.
I too bought it on Desura years ago. As far as I remember, the Desura build was always behind, so I played the builds from the forum. Eventually I stopped playing, but tried it again when they released it on Steam. I watched them Stream it on the GOG Twitch channel today and it's come a long way since I last played it. Now I want to fire it up again. I prefer GOG over Steam and it would be nice to get DRM free copy on GOG, but I don't feel I'm owed anything. I've gotten more than my money's worth of enjoyment already from the game already.

Awesome, thanks for the reply :)
We loved Desura to bits, and so were always kind when it came to not talking about certain things, but now Desura has died, to be honest the process for updating builds on Desura was EXTREMELY time consuming for us, was Australian time zone, Desura were going through a lot of changes at the time, and numerous other factors. It was also through a kind of update drought in Project Zomboid at the time due to big rejiggings. In short there is a lot more to it that we just didn't feel it would be nice to hold up as excuses for what was admittedly our shoddy Desura support from an outside perspective. Sadly Desura was a long time dying.

Trust me that we already have it set up so PZ and GOG can have near simulataneous updates, and I'm sure that GOG are probably going to explore beta branches in future (though that's pure speculation) in short I can assume this won't be an issue. At the moment you'll get every stable official update that Steam does.

I also got PZ on Desura almost 2 years ago looking at the email and it would be great to have it on GOG for easy downloading without having to go through all the Steam hoops.

Honestly I was tempted to even buy it again here on GOG but their prices are pretty insane lately for my country (even at 40% off it's only a hair better than the normal Steam price) so it's a bit hard to swallow for me. So if you guys do make some arrangement it would be great.

Though ether way keep up the good work, Project Zomboid has come a long way and killed many hours.
I believe I've got the Steam Key somewhere around here that Desura gave out for my Version of the Game as their Service shut down, I've never used it though because I don't have a Steam Account. But, wouldn't it be possible to use that Key to reclaim [ https://www.gog.com/reclaim ] my Game here, if that were added to the Roster of Participating Titles...? Would be kinda neat.

Well, I don't need it to be added, I'm just asking, I'm not averse to buying it again, as it sure deserves the Money. I've may have had a few Issues with it back then, few graphics Glitches and Performance issues because my Setup isn't the beefiest of all, and calculating the Field of Vision for the Player Character seems to have been quite the Resource Hog back then. Other than that, I never had many Complaints with it - I loved to play it for Hours and Hours.
