I have Zomboid here and on Steam, but I'm only keeping it on Steam because of its Beta branch, which is up to build 34.11, testing a new food nutrition system while us here are only up to 33.20.

Are accessible beta branches something that's coming in the future? I would love to yank my Steam requirement for this game to not have to access Beta tests.

Thanks :)

I'd like the GOG version to catch up with Steam's too. (I was thinking about this yesterday evening.)

...and I've just asked the same question at the dev's forum.
Apparently I "cannot post any links at this moment", so search for theindiestone dot com, and I've posted it in PZ Support on their forum.

I'll second that. Cant´t wait to get IWBUMS 34.11.
GoG does not support the concept of beta branches currently, thus only stable builds will be released to GoG users. If this changes in th efuture, then there's no reason not to have betas here, really.
Thanks for the reply, EnigmaGrey.

I'm slightly bemused, though. I had the following reply from GOG support (hope they don't mind me quoting it): "Currently, we are unable to provide unstable updates for this game. When developer released next stable version of Project Zomboid we will provide it to our users. If in the future developer will decide to provide us with beta branches for this game, we will also provide our users option to download those."
In development + stable builds don't really go together (sure, they CAN, but, to me, the concept of ID inherently means unstable/unrefined) and, GOG should have realized when implementing "IN DEV" that there'd be a lot of instability, and be willing to provide those builds to the people willing to play them. Get on it, GOG.

that is really bad news, didn't expect problem with branched releases, especially when unlike Steam the GOG (at least on the galaxy client) allows for rollback to older versions of game (witcher 3 has this feature for example) ... so GOG allows for several different versions of game being available. With that it shouldn't be too hard to have one extra version hidden under the rollback function labeled experimental or something ... anyone who wants stable release would use latest (stable) version, anyone interested in development version could do not-really-rollback to experimental version (and disable auto update)

GOG really dropped the ball here.

Yes, and I think they gave false-advertising when saying they'd be providing ID games to users as the games develop. It's pretty bogus, but that is GOG a lot of times with their function (not that that excuses it, certainly.)

I'm extremely disappointed in this.

Here is a picture of GOG staff at their offices.

You're still playing a game that isn't complete, just with a lower number of updates than those on Steam, due to the difficulty of distributing dozens of smaller versions on GoG without Galaxy integration. While it might not be as good as what Steam provides (right now), it's far from a fabrication on GoG's part.

Thanks for replying. And, yeah, a bit of an overstatement on my part at least. I just want to be sure GOG is going to keep up with the games that are ID and not drop the ball on them, more than anything. I'm excited for the game but am waiting until it is a bit closer to being released before playing much more of it.

When it eventually is released, do you anticipate a day-of release on GOG?
