I'm starting a new thread on this topic because I saw where several other members are having the same problem.... but they posted in a Solved Thread.
I'm using an XBox wireless controller, configured with Xpadder, and it is working smoothly, except for Running. The prince actually slows down when I push the stick all the way forward. This makes getting away from a crowd of sand creatures very awkward.
I will still play the game, regardless, but I'd love a fix.
Thanks, JJ

I wish I had a controller right now to test this...
Xpadder emulates controller button presses as keyboard keystrokes, right?
What if the "walk toggle" had no assigned key? In Options > Controls look for the "walk toggle" and remove the assigned keyes (both by double clicking them and pressing "backspace").
This would remove the ability to walk slowly tough...
You could alo try to give the "walk toggle" w key and "move forward" shift.
But maybe all this could already be configured in Xpadder? I wouldn't know.

So - I tried that, Pops. I took the walk feature off the controller and started the game and he still runs like he is running though molasses.
Yes, you do lose the walk feature, which is handy when going over floor spikes.
I went online and was going to try to get my PS3 controller to work but it took too many hoops. And I already know the XBox controller works fine for all the PC games I've tried so far.

I didn't understand that part of your post. But I feel sure there must be an answer. Maybe I'll take a walk through the Xpadder forum.
Thank you for the post.

Yes, walking is very handy at times :P

I meant inverting the keyes for those actions, instead of w key you give the "move forward" action the "walk toggle" key (shift) while you give the "walk toggle" the "Move forward" key (w) but I'm almost certain this won't help at all.
Did you try to do that through the game menu instead of Xpadder (leave Xpadder to its default values for instance)?
you could try the xbcd(xbox controller driver). Should allow you to set full range on the analog sticks and hopefully solve your problem with prince of persia.

I tried interacting with the Gamepad interface in the game, Pops, but it blows me off. Trying to bypass the Gamepad option without using Xpadder didn't work, it just wouldn't find the darned thing.
I bought Windows 7 last month, Ralackk, and the first time I plugged in my Xbox controller (I was playing Red Dead Redemption) it downloaded a new driver. So I'm not really sure what that link is supposed to tell me.
I have a query in over at the Xpadder site. I'll let you all know how this works out.

Did you make sure you unassigned gamepad-functions in the options menu?
Personally, I use Pinnacle Game Profiles ( http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com ) as it auto-detects whenever a game starts that uses a profile and I don't have that problem.
You should beable to get to a setup menu for the driver and set full range on the analog sticks as an option. The driver I linked apparently has an emulator that will allow you to do so.
But using XBCD will diesable native XBox Controller support for new games and some game will actually no longer recognize the controller.
So in my opinion, using a tool like XPadder or Pinnacle Game Profiler is the better solution.

NOTE: Make sure your controls are set to keyboard NOT gamepad.
I'm using a PS2 controller with XPadder, but I imagine the configuration (atleast for moving around with the left joystick) is very similar.
In prince of persia, the default WASD runs automatically. To use walking you press Left Shift (default).
The newest version of Xpadder (v5.7) allows you to add distance zones to your stick directions (ie. if its 0% to 50% use these buttons and if its 50% to 100% use these buttons)
For my settings i chose (W)(L Shift)(70%)(W)
Which basically says from 0-70% of stick radius, use W+L Shift. (Which will make the prince walk forward) However, once you get past 70% stick radius, just use W (which will make the prince run forward).
Then its just a matter of configuring it for the rest of the directions: (Assuming you're using the defaults)
Left: (A)(L Shift)(70%)(A)
Right: (D)(L Shift)(70%)(D)
Back: (S)(L Shift)(70%)(S)

Hate to necro a thread but this solution worked for my issues with Warrior Within, thanks for the tip. I did add a couple of things to make the control work a bit more, such as increasing the zone a bit and emulating eight directions so diagonal movement works a lot better.
