Hi! I just bought and installed Prince of Persia (the one from 2008). But I can't play the game. The startup of the program appears to be normal until I select 'New game' in the game menu. Then the loading screen (the one saying 'Into the storm') appears, after a few seconds the loading animation stops and then nothing happens.

I run Windows 7 64 bit. In the task manager the game is shown as running (so no 'not responding' warning), but it doesn't do anything. Any idea how this problem might be fixed?

Does it just stop or is it just really slow?
My version (not bought here unfortunately) is just really slow.
I had to write "DISABLE_OPTIMISATION=TRUE" in the dare.ini and wiggle my mouse at the load screen after I pressed "new game".
That did the trick. Thank you very much!
Hello,

I had the same problem, but I connected XBOX 360 controller and the game loaded.
In my case, the game freezes completely when I try to start a new game. Any ideas? Thx

The disabling optimization and mouse wiggling didn't do anything for me.

But what did was alt-tabbing out of the game, alt-tabbing back in and waiting a few seconds. You'll notice it's working if you see some of the snow flakes/droplets move slightly across the screen. Alt-tab out and back in several times and each time it'll get a bit closer to loading.

I noticed that while in the game in this hanged state, the game was maxing out a CPU core, and alt-tabbing out the game dropped it back down again. I figured the alt-tabbing/wiggling the mouse was interrupting whatever was maxing out the CPU, allowing a bit more of the game to load.

I also enabled V-Sync and no more issues either way now that I'm in the game. Nice bug Ubisoft!!
As a side effect, disabling optimizations causes significant screen tearing for me (regardless of vsync setting).
