Ok, just finished the game for the first time *loved it* and I come here excitedly to post about something I found earlier which i HOPE didn't get mentioned in other posts or dev comments (I did run a basic search).
If it did just let me get away with my head down, shrouded in embarrassment...

Brief Introduction: As many of you know, Horatio's ship is called UNNIIC probably due to the inscription we can see on the half buried engine-thing just outside the ship's entrance by the emergency generator. Now the thing is that after Horatio is first called "Horus" By Gamma inside the Giant's (Goliath) head, the half buried inscription takes new meaning...
I believe if it were to be unearthed we could see the other half of what's written and would probably look like this:
(I SUCK at ascii art so please find attached a much clearer representation of what I mean)

|_| Π Π | | C << avobe ground
| | U |< |_| Ɔ << below ground

Yes, spot on! My understanding is that's exactly what we're supposed to take away from the UNNIIC's tag. In fact, as I recall, the bottom half of the letters isn't even all the way underground, just worn off--so if you look real hard you can see at least part of the bottom half.

You said you first heard the name "Horus" from Gamma--it's also possible to play the game in such a way that you hear that name first from someone else, and if you do, you'll learn even more about the whole Horus thing! :)

Exactly right -- and nice job getting the ASCII to actually work; I've tried it before without success.

Esther is right: there's another way to resolve the Gamma situation that opens up considerably more Horus-related content.
Really?? Awesome!
Yeah I was aware of the different path/ending choices and all, but I didn't realize it could branch that early.

I'll certainly be replaying it next month then!
You own it to yourself, you missed some GREAT endings.

Definitely do! The business with trapping vs. destroying Gamma is really the only place where the storyline does branch in a major way before the final scene of the game (all the other branching options are available only at the very end), but, as etb says, it opens up an even more fantastic array of other endings to choose from.
