Gotta say this is one of the best adventures I've played in quite a while. The story was compelling, voice acting was top notch, a few minor glitches but no major bugs, nice graphics and music, not strictly linear but with a steady flow, great hint system and puzzles that while not always obvious were very logical and there were multiple ways to go about things. All in all, I loved it, kudos to the team! :)

There were a few items I came across during a full playthrough, but they don't seem to serve any purpose. Are they red herrings or have I missed something?

1. the tape deck gets me an achievement, but otherwise doesn't do anything?
2. the shopping list shows up in the datapouch, but seems useless?
3. same about the time on the clock at central station, 1:55 ?
4. the record from Gimbal seems to have no function?
5. is the sheet metal in Horatio's bedroom just a rug?
6. the sad robot waiting for his bus (and in fact the entire screen he's on)
7. I guess the g.e.c.k. for the water chip is a reference to Fallout, but is it actually possible to get the glass finger? How?

Minor glitch that I haven't seen mentioned: during the credits roll, it is possible to use the I/D/M shortcuts to bring up the inventory, datapouch and map respectively.

No, it doesn't.

If Horatio didn't make notes in his datapouch, and you had to write down clues on your own, would you note the clock time just in case it might be useful at some later point?

It's part of a cut puzzle. (IIRC, the idea was to distract the bot at the crashed bus by playing music at the bar.)

It's there for Crispin to comment on. ;)

shdon: 6. the sad robot waiting for his bus (and in fact the entire screen he's on)
He's just there for the mood. (You can't fix everything, so you can't help him, and he isn't really struggling to actually do anything about getting home, instead choosing to sit there and wait.)

Fetching a glass finger is a quest EFL gives you if you fail his test. It's somewhere in the junk pile, but it doesn't appear at all until you're asked for it.
Thanks YnK. It makes sense. Got the impression sad-bot was scenery only from the commentary, but I wasn't sure. I'm most surprised by the time on the clock. Especially considering how you have to make Crispin fly up there to actually see the time.

Gotta have to try that with the glass finger then.

Ha, YnK covered everything. Sorry I missed this -- at some point GOG stopped notifying me about posts in this forum, not sure why, so it takes me longer to notice one has come in.

The sheet metal / rug is a Lebowski reference.

Huh? How so? I know the movie, but don't get a point.

When you examine it, I think Crispin says, "It really ties the room together."

Oh, right, the carpet... I feel dumb now.

As the references go, it was a less bad idea than the Saving Private Ryan sticky bomb puzzle.... :/
