Yup. Postal 2 was banned here in New Zealand. I saw interviews with the chief censor on tv at the time. He said It was "Not in the publics best interest" to have this game available. They said that it gave the player sick satisfaction in humiliating others and demeaning minorities. They banned both this game and manhunt.
Thats fine..but heres my point......I fucking love this game! i am so glad that gog has it because there is no way i could have played it otherwise.....its a solid shooter but its also hillarious because it's satirical...it's not meant to be taken literally!!! im not going to run down the road and hit people in the head with a shovel and then urinate on them!...(although how funny would that be...seriously)
Oh and by the way i have played Manhunt and i agree that it should stay banned..mostly because it sucks.....it was like a psychotic and really shitty version of splinter cell.
Anyway..not only so i now get Postal 2 but all the add-ons as well....Thanks gog..shit i gotta go buy some milk.
I'm Australian, and it was banned over here too. I bought it when it came out, I just ordered it from the net. Going to have to do the same with AvP and L4D2. There's nothing the government can do to stop you just getting it imported. You might even be able to get banned games cheaper than retail.

I heard rumors that Australian customs checks incoming packages for banned game titles and stops these from entering the country. I really hope that I'm misinformed though, this would be really sad if true.

Hm, I don't know for sure. I know they do open things at random, but I don't know if they specifically target games.
How is that nanny state working out for you guys down under?
I joined GOG to get Redneck Rampage. I have has Postal 2 and the expansion for a few years now. The makers of the Postal games do not advocate violence.. they say its just a game, meant as a game only.. a way to have fun and take out your frustrations without resorting to real violence.
I could not agree more. i have loved this game and the movie and I play them at least once a year.
We need more games like Postal 2 and Redneck Rampage which is another comedy FPS that the stiff necks would say is politicaly incorrect. Making fun of rednecks.. shooting them because they are stupid hicks and cussing up a storm. its a stone gas to play. (even if the graphics are very outsdated).
no one has ever gone postal after playing Postal 2. I would like to lock all these people who censor these games in a room and make them play them to prove to them it's just good clean fun :-)

LOL @ Countries that ban games.
Also, Manhunt didn't suck.
lol @ countrys getting upset about harmless sex scenes in video games.

lol @ countrys that ban the swastika in WWII games because they are afraid the nazis will climb out of the screen and take over their country again.

it's not only banned in games. and it's banned for a reason and your example is not funny and i think you know that.

I'm always a bit shocked when people here accuse the US of being a nanny state. I mean, if we're a nanny state, we must have a really cool nanny. I mean just look at all the pornos and violent films we get.

I suspect we fall somewhere in the middle ultimately, we don't get the ultra-violence that is popular in some parts of the world, and we don't get the real explicit sex that they do in other parts of the world, but we can get plenty of both anyways.

Hedwards, the comment was made by someone in the USA. He called Australia a nanny state. That's why he said "down under."

Point being? I'm always surprised when people refer to the US as a nanny state, when we don't go anywhere near as far as some places like Australia and New Zealand do in terms of sanitizing the media.
My point was that no one called the US a nanny state here in this forum..

Looking at it again, however, I see that you meant an instance outside of this forum. I misunderstood your point and thought you were giving Jaysyn a hard time for something he didn't say =)

What the hell? Can people buy Postal here even if they are from AUS? I mean Steam checks IP doesn't GoG do that?
