During testing several POD versions and releases on Wine, a couple of features and workarounds have been added:

* Version 3.4
Added --install parameter (setup support).
* Version 3.5
Workaround for Wine Bug #31924.
* Version 3.6
Limit DirectDraw to about 60 frames (surface flips) per second.
This feature is for the podmmx.exe and winpod.exe.
* Version 3.7
OEM CD-ROM check support (Ghost Mode).
Finally makes it possible to use the Ghost Mode in POD 1.0 on all Windows versions.
* Version 3.8
Texture loading fix for the D3D5 version of POD.
Finally allows to play the Arcade track on all Windows versions.

Best regards,
Nico

Woot! Arcade is playable again ! That's a big news!
* Version 3.9a

For debugging/support purposes I added an optional MiniDmpType value for the [PodHacks] section of the PodHacks.ini.

If the value is present and valid (MiniDmpType=0 results in small minidump files that contain enough information for a basic analysis) PodHacks will capture unhandled exceptions and creates PodHacks_<datetime>.dmp files that can be send to me (7z/zip-ed).

Requirements: Debug Help Library present (included in current Windows versions).

nicode: Update: PodHacks 3.0 can suppress multiple grSstWinOpen/grSstWinClose calls.
Videos and vehicle textures are working now with nGlide (incl. DisplayMode=6).

With PodHacks 3.0 the "Suppress resolution changes" setting has been added. This
feature avoids the well-known "grSstWinOpen Error" and missing vehicle textures.
Is auto-enabled for nGlide and dgVoodoo, but might be useful for other wrappers.

Hello! I have
- pod gold by GoG
- nGlide
- podhacks
but I am not able to run pod ofor 3dfx on my win7 laptop. How should I do?
I'm not a technician, so I'm not very much in tweaks and this sort of things. Can you help me?
even with dgvoodoo nothing changes! YAY!

Quantaltro: but I am not able to run pod ofor 3dfx on my win7 laptop.
Please post an error message, or at least an application behavior.

You have to have a full DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card.

Does it work without nGlide/PodHacks?

I managed to run it with nglide and podhacks renaming the glide dll library.
It's great, pity for the low resolution.

Well, it's an acient game :)
I use the desktop resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio in the nGlide Configurator.
PodHacks 4.0 can synchronize the 3Dfx Glide open/close calls to the main thread.
This should help to avoid the "grSstWinOpen Error" for DX9-based Glide wrappers.
Auto-enabled for nGlide and dgVoodoo 1+2 but might be useful for other wrappers.

The current nGlide versions release the textures during resolution changes (this
is a missing feature in several Glide wrappers) which results in damaged vehicle
textures. To avoid this problem you should use PodHacks 3.9a or earlier (prevent
all resolution changes). Download http://svn.nicode.net/podhacks/bin/?pathrev=55

This thread should be pinned. It's a very helpful resource.

Now with dgvoodoo is back in development, it's time for me to get back to the game. Very excited.

Well, it's not my decision :)
And there is still a lot to fix (in the GOG release and/or in PodHacks)...
I salute your dedication to Pod even after all these years. For me the combination of the latest nglide and podhacks is near-perfect. GOG glide wrapper seems to be missing plenty of texture, effects and doesn't support 800x600 properly (make the screen goes tiny). So i think it's better to use different wrapper, such as nglide, dgvoodoo etc.

If not for podhacks, swapping with different wrapper will introduce tons of incompatibility issue and missing cutscenes. All of this made possible thanks to you nicode. It's running flawlessly on my system.
To get the published POD Demos running and to support the ancient CD-ROM checks in the OEM release without redirecting the CD-ROM data/music I released PodHacks 3.9i. Yes, the multi-threading workaround of PodHacks 4.0 has been reverted because it is unlikely that another Glide wrapper than dgVoodoo and nGlide support preserving the TMU state between grSstWinClose/grSstWinOpen calls (missing vehicle textures after resolution changes) in the foreseeable future. And the Suppress resolution changes (grSstWinOpen error) will be obsolete with the next nGlide release (supports multi-threaded Glide API calls).

nGlide 1.02 has been released.

Now you can disable the Suppress resolution changes (grSstWinOpen error) option in PodHacks to avoid scaled menu screens.
