Some time ago I've written down some installation notes for the GOG release:
http://pod.nicode.net/gold/gog/
including the language packs that are missing :)
Hey there,
I wanted to add new tracks, but in CDPatcher they are not displayed.
Compatibility is set to Windows 95.
Here are some screenshots. Any ideas?

The CDPatcher and the tracks/cars are intended to be placed in a separate directory, not the game folder.
Mostly you just have to extract the ZIPs into the CDPatcher's root.
The Ubisoft FTP is offline, go to any fanpage or http://pod.nicode.net/mirror/ftp.ubisoft.com/CDPatcher/

Here you can find a picture of what Nico told you. The CDPatcher section is near the end.
I know this website and I tried so many different schemes. But no success :(

Maybe there's a mistake in my ubi.ini ?

Well, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this file. If the CDPatcher is working (it's not saying that it can't find POD) then the ini file is OK.

However, it's strange that it says 3DFX=0.

Nonetheless, here's the site where I understood how to install extra content:
http://www.thebasingers.com/0706milbs/pod/goginstall.html
Thanks, but I know this website and also tried it that way.

Now I have something strange found. If I move the CDPatcher in a new folder and run it, my antivirus program (Avast) scans the .exe file, so the CDPatcher. During the scan, all new cars and tracks are displayed in the CDPatcher! However, the scan takes only about 10 seconds, then the CDPatcher reboots and there appears nothing again. If I install a track within the 10 seconds and then shut it, the track in Game still is then not available.
That's really strange.

This is odd. I've never experienced such things. :D

My guess is that, if you've set up the CDPatcher as you've shown in your 2.png screenshot, the CDPatcher sees the bl4 files in the "Circuits" directory, but it doesn't see the other necessary track files.

There might even be interferences because you've put the CDPatcher in the folder where your POD installation is.

Nonetheless, try setting up the CDPatcher again, like so:

METHOD 1:

1. Create a folder in "My Documents" called "CDPatcher" and put your CDPatcher exe in it. Set the compatibility mode of the CDPatcher exe to Windows 95.

2. Create 2 new folders in the "CDPatcher" folder: "Circuits" and "Voitures". (i.e. My Documents/CDPatcher/Circuits and My Documents/CDPatcher/Voitures).

3. Let's say you want to install the Fuego car. You download the 3DFX archive from any fan site like the POD Phreaks website (http://www.thebasingers.com/0706milbs/pod/) or from Nico's mirror website (http://pod.nicode.net/mirror/ftp.ubisoft.com/CDPatcher), unzip it and there should be a "Voitures" folder inside, and inside the "Voitures" folder there should be a "Fuego" folder. In the "Fuego" folder there should be a fuego.img, fuego.meg, voitures.bin, a fuego.bv3 and a fuego.bv4 file.

4.Copy the "Fuego" folder into My Documents/CDPatcher/Voitures.

5. Run the CDPatcher and now you should see the Fuego car. And hopefully, you will be able to install it. :)

Do the same with the tracks, only copy their folders into My Documents/CDPatcher/Circuits (for example for the Iceberg track, you download the 3DFX version, unzip it and you'll get a "Circuits" folder, and inside it - an "Iceberg" folder containing a meg, img, bl4 and bin file. Copy the "Iceberg" folder into My Documents/CDPatcher/Circuits.)

METHOD 2:

1. Or, you could download DebugErr's whole CDPatcher folder:

http://pod.vibeware.net/cdpatcher/complete.zip

2. Copy the "POD CDPatcher" folder from the archive to "My Documents", set the compatibility mode of the CDPatcher exe to Windows 95 and run it.

Thanks, but I tried both methods. No luck :(

Well... did you install POD to C:\UbiSoft\Pod2_0 (case sensitive)? This is where your ubi.ini file is telling the CDPatcher to install new content.
You're using Phreakindee's install config, right?

Yes, that's right.
Hey everyone, Im currently doing the same thing and have been working at it all day. I have set up the folders correctly I believe. However, when I try to run CdPatcher the fatal error pops up saying it cannot find POD. How can I fix this?

Thanks,
Chris
fib, there are a few more things you could do:

1. You could try reinstalling POD as follows (Phreakindee's method):

1.1. Uninstall POD.

1.2. Install POD to EXACTLY C:\UbiSoft\Pod2_0 (be careful - it counts whether you type a lower case or upper case letter).

1.3. Download the POD Install Config from Phreakindee's website:
http://www.thebasingers.com/0706milbs/pod/POD%20Install%20Config.zip

Unzip the archive and you should get a "Windows" folder, inside it - a "UbiSoft" folder with a few more folders and files inside it.

Copy the "UbiSoft" folder from the archive and paste it into C:\Windows.

You've probably done this already so you can skip 1.3.

1.4. Set up the CDPatcher following one of the methods I told you earlier (everything - the compatibility mode, the folders... etc.)

1.5. You should be ready to install new cars and tracks now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------

2. Nico's method:

2.1. Let's say you've installed POD to C:\Program Files\POD.

2.2. If you've used Phreakindee's config, go to C:\Windows\ and find the folder called "UbiSoft". Go into the UbiSoft folder and delete everything in it (including the ubi.ini file).

2.3. While still in the UbiSoft folder, create a ubi.ini file with the following contents:

[SYSTEM]
ATI 3D Card=0
S3D Card=0
MMX=1

[OSD]
Directory=C:\Program Files\POD\UBISOFT\OSD\

[POD2_0]
Configuration=13
Directory=C:\Program Files\POD\
Language=English
ShortCutDesktopName=/dev/null
ShortCutDirectory=/dev/null

Just copy and paste it into notepad and save as "ubi.ini".

2.4. Set up the CDPatcher following one of the methods I told you earlier (the compatibility, the folder... etc.)

2.5. You should be ready to install new cars and tracks now.

==============================================================

Chris, this error appears because the CDPatcher can't find the ubi.ini file in C:\Windows\UbiSoft (don't worry, it's not created when you install POD. That's why we have to create it manually :).

Install POD anywhere on your computer and use Nico's method for the ubi.ini (read the original here http://pod.nicode.net/gold/gog/#data or read my description of it a few lines above as "Nico's method".)

OR

Install the POD Install Config as mentioned here http://www.thebasingers.com/0706milbs/pod/goginstall.html or read my description of the method a few lines above as "Phreakindee's method".

Or you could just install POD following Phreakindee's instructions:
http://www.thebasingers.com/0706milbs/pod/goginstall.html

Hi guys,

I tried it but I keep getting stuck at setting the Compatibility Mode to Win 95 (I'm running Windows 10). The tab "Compatibility" does not show in the CDPatcher properties.

And I encountered the problem that the website to get CDPatcher complete seems not to be avvailable any more.

I hope you can help me 'cause I hope to drive Hellway again...

Thanks a lot, tbm83
