I installed POD data patcher, and it starts fine.
I can see the list of tracks I downloaded. But I cannot select them! When I try to select one the selection immediately disappear.

Do anyone has similar behavior? Could you correctly install new tracks?

You have to enable the Windows 95 compatibility mode for the CDPatcher.exe. The applications thinks that you do not have enough free disk space.
I set the Windows version to Windows 98 and it solved the problems. Thanks.
I didn't get the option to install in the C:\Ubisoft directory from the GOG Pod Gold. Therefore my CDPatcher doesn't recognize my install. How can I install to the proper directory?
For the CDPatcher you have to create an %windir%\UbiSoft\ubi.ini
See http://pod.nicode.net/gold/gog/#data for details.

BTW, you should be able to change the installation directory by clicking the Options button in the initial setup screen.

For quick reference, you need a file called:
c:\windows\UbiSoft\ubi.ini

With this content (assuming you installed in c:\POD, change as appropriate):

[POD2_0]
Directory=C:\POD\
Thanks nicode and etb for the prompt response. I will try it at home. Nice to be able to play POD again. I was addicted to the Game Service from1997 - 2001.

Clune ! I remember playing a lot of GS games with you from 1999 to 2001 ! Nice to see you here ;)
It seems Pod CD Patcher 2 doesn't work with my new copy of Windows 8 x64. There's no compatibility menu at all. So i can't change it to Windows 95 while i'm sure this wasn't the case on my old Windows 7 copy.

That's not encouraging for a new Win8 installation ! I guess I'll stick to Win7 for a while.

Maybe there's a trick to reach those compatibility settings though ?
Try this: http://pod.nicode.net/cdpatcher2x.zip

You might try the set __COMPAT_LAYER=Win95 in a shell or batch script.

See HOW TO: Script Compatibility Layers in Windows XP

ps: The shell extension just writes the AppCompat values to the registry to make them permanent for the user or system. Have a look at the AppCompat batch file here: http://www.robvanderwoude.com/tweaks.php#FixApps

Thanks for the pointer. Seems like i can't get it working, but maybe it's because my installation direction is C:\GOG Games. Will try it on c:\UbiSoft

Shouldn't matter, else the CDPatcher would complain about not finding the POD installation.
The broken selection is caused by the (wrong) usage of GetDiskFreeSpace, that is 'fixed' by the Win95 AppCompat shim (that doesn't return more than 2GB).

The patched version above should work.
I confirm. CD Patcher was not working for me either. I couldn't select the tracks and cars even thoug hthey were present in the list. Running the software in Win95 compatibility mode solved the problem.
