Hi scientt,

I have just tried your patch and it works like a charm! :)

I would really like to thank you for the huge contribution that you are giving to the community and for all you have done to improve everyone's PS:T experience, and for taking the time of checking this forum and help with user's specific issues! :)

scientt: I don't really feel like manually patching anymore and bigg is taking forever to update Widescreen mod with fix. So I put together a quick console patch to automate it. Back up your torment exe before hand just in case. Run the command line patcher in directory where Torment.exe is. You'll have to run it as admin if its in program files on win7 or vista. It will ask for x and y coordinates of your current WS resolution, just enter them in and hit enter.

this thread was the first hit on google. downloaded your fix and I haven't had any crashes in the art gallery since.

thank you very much, scientt!

Thank you so much for this. I was having intermittent crashes, but once I got to the gallery, I couldn't proceed at all without it crashing. Ran your fix and the game hasn't crashed a single time since.
Thanks a lot for this... same as the other fellow posters I had experienced a few crashes before but managed to get around them, but this one was mighty irritating!

Hi all,

I realize that the issue with Bigg's Widescreen Mod has been beaten to death, but I'm running into my own issuse and was wondering if anybody has any insight into how to get around it.

I'm currently using:
1) Bigg's Widescreen Mod
2) The Incredible UI Mod
3) Unfinished Business
4) Fixpatch
5) Tweaks

I've also downloaded and applied scientt's patch, which can be found above.

After applying scientt's patch, I've found that I don't crash as often when warping from location to location - however, I am having a graphical glitch in which party members and NPCs can walk *on top* of background scenery. It's most obvious in the first screen of the Hive, where I can see people walking over monuments or gate-archways.

Does anybody know how to get around this? It's certainly not game-breaking (and much more preferable to having to ritually save before entering a portal), but it certainly breaks the visual consistency of this very immersive game.

Any help would be appreciated!
This is my first time playing through Planescape and I'm totally in love with the game. Your fix saved my playthrough from being stopped dead at that Art Gallery and I can't thank you enough!
The patch doesn't work for me. I get no confirmation (it just quits) and the date modified of the .exe doesn't change. Any tips? I placed it in the same folder and ran as admin.

If a kind soul has a fixed .exe at 1280x800 they could PM me, I'd be very grateful.
I've tried using the command line patcher provided in this thread, but I am still getting crashes when entering areas. Is the patcher supposed to modify torment.exe? I'm looking at the file's properties in Windows and the 'Modified' field hasn't updated.

Windows 7 x64
1920x1080

I've installed the game in D:\Planescape Torment\ instead of the default location.

@Cougarcat/posfan12:
It looks like my patcher doesn't update date modified for some reason, probably method I'm using to edit exe. I don't think I even bothered to keep source. Anyway, as long as it said it was successful then it patched it ok. You could also compare the patched exe to backed up exe if you followed my advice. If it's still crashing and the patch was applied correctly, I'll need someone to volunteer to let me remotely debug the game on their computer via team viewer. Then I can see exactly area of code that is crashing and possibly come up with solution. Doing so should only take 15-20 mins to find problem area, coming up with a fix depends.

@RudyRoughknight:
Would you mind posting some screenshots? The original crash and my fix has to do with altering the value used by infinity engine code for wall polygons. Are you sure you put the correct values into the patcher? It seems like they're mismatched or misaligned based on your description. More details about wall polygons and details behind patch are in this post:

If you upload your SETUP-WIDESCREEN.DEBUG and Torment.exe someplace and drop me a PM, I'll have a look.
Can we schedule a time to use TeamViewer? Here are my Torment.exe and debug file.

I am also crashing in the art gallery; my resolution is 1920x1200.

@posfan: Sent you a PM, send me a message and we can scheduled a time.

@Fumarole: Did you try the patcher I posted?
I'm also having the same issue as RudyRoughknight.

I completely missed that post. I've now patched it and it works. Thanks a bunch!
