Hey guys,

I have seen conflicting info on here about how this game runs on Win 7 64-bit.

I have 2 questions:

#1 Those of you running the game (no mods) from here on Win 7 64 bit, does the game crash? If it does, did the "not installing the game under Program Files fix" work?

#2 Also to those running on Win 7 64-bit, if you run the recommended Mods (as outlined in the sticky) do you have crashing, or other issues?

Just seeing if the issue threads are isolated problems, or if it is the norm.

I would really like to play through this classic once again, but would like to avoid a massive headache if possible.

I'm running the game with the recommended mods and no crashes (excluding the crash on exit which seems to occur in all copies of the game GOG or not.) No issues besides the spellcasting graphical glitch.
Alright, not much for responses here, but I took the leap of faith, and have 0 issues on Win 7 64bit. (Basic install, no mods)
My game crashes more than occasionally but only on zone transitions (Win7 64bit w. recommended mods). Marta's hut (the witch in the hive who will teach spellcasting) was pretty bad for me.

I'm good about autosaving and it doesn't crash any other time.

Everything ran fine for me until an in game "cinematic" between two spell-casters caused me to stutter and crash to desktop every time. May have been a video driver issue, haven't tried since I got my new GTX 470.
its really bad that great games like this risk to be forgoten just because they are not compatible with the latest hardware, software... or trends
at least there is gog that tries to keep them playable. unfortunately not always succeeds 100% but its better than nothing

Does this game I have downloaded from GOG include all patches, and Is there a way I can enhance graphics? The pics I've seen look better than the graphics I'm getting in th first room of the beginning of game.

Yes it has all the patches, you want the Widescreen Mod & Ghostdogs_PST_UI Mod.
Look at the sticky at the top of this section.
Tchos Portrait mod looks good too.

On my Win7 64-bit it crashes everytime I exit the game. Also my Saved games disappear unless I'm running the game as the administrator account (not just a user with admin rights)

Download & install the Compatibility Administrator from here http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=7352
Run the 32bit version.
It will start with New database(1) [Untitled_1] highlighted.
At the top, click on Fix.
Name the file to be fixed ( I put PST ) Then browse to your Torment.exe file.
Click next, to the compatibility mode screen. Ignore that & next again.
At Compatability Fixes, tick EmulateHeap
Then next, then Finish.
Then Save.
Then right click on New Database(1) & install.

Being a User with administrator rights, just gives you the option to run programs as administrator.
If it bothers you, you can reinstall the game outside of the Program Files (x86) directory.

Vagabond, thanks so much for this, mostly from a "Thank God, It's Not Just Me" standpoint about the crash on exit thing.

Thanks, Olnorton, for posting this fix. It's almost three years old, but it stopped the crash-on-exit problem I was was having with PST.
