Sometimes when I switch screens, the game just crashes to desktop.
ATI video card, widescreen patch with ghostdog's ui mod installed, hardware acceleration turned down. Any idea why it might be crashing?

When you say switch screens, do you mean you use ALT+TAB to get back to the desktop? A lot of older fullscreen games didn't like that at all, especially if the resolution of the game and of the desktop were different. Running in windowed mode might help if you need to switch but I can't remember off the top of my head how to do it

Are you getting any errors or does it just vanish with no explanation?
Nah, I'm talking about switching screens in-game, from one area to another. Walking into buildings and such.

It just gives me a generic windows crash error.
I'm also getting this, increasingly frequently as I progress. Also using the widescreen patch, but Nvidia rather than ATI, and no other mods or anything. Anyone have any clues?
Same situation, crashes on loading screen. Nvidia GPU. Widescreen + UI mods installed.
Did you start new game after installing widescreen mod, or tried using old saves?
Same thing here-- it crashes randomly when entering buildings (didn't do it at all during the beginning, not until I got to the Hive). All mods installed, then started a new game. Playing at 1600x900.

Did you get any error message? Check if it was registered in torment.log file.
Also getting same. Screen is drawn then goes completely black and I'm kicked out to windows.

Nvidia here, 1900x1200, fully patched with widescreen mod, gui mod (120% fonts), unifinished business, tweaks. Only spent maybe an hour playing it and had 4 or 5 crashes. It's just like the original! :P
Hum. Okay, everyone who has the problem, did you play the game at all before installing the mods? Or did you install them before ever starting the game?

If you installed the mods straight away, try reinstalling the game and starting it up once, including playing for a minute, this time with no mods/patches. No need to save the game. Then quit and install the mods as recommended.

Let us know if this worked with anyone.
What OS are you guys playing on? Maybe there's a connection there.
Playing on XP SP3, and none of the posts so far have been any help :(
Game crashes with a fresh install as well, saves are post-widescreen patch (as well as pre, in different tests).

It's only happened within the Hive for me as of yet, if that's any help.

Run the game in windows xp compatibility mode.

I set it to xp service pack 2 and just had a 3 hour game session crash free, running all around the city, in and out of houses etc.

It also fixed the screwy "bring the game to a crawl spell effects" for me, thank goodness!

Another thing is not use creative alchemy, It was crash city while using it.

Already running XP, no Alchemy running :(
I'm also getting the odd crash when travelling to a new screen. I'm on Windows 7 with an ATI 4800 card if that's of any consequence.
