Paul_cz: It is a bit too small in 1920*1200 on 24", but..gog it is so beautiful.
It really is hard to turn down the crism lovely look of 1920x1200 in pixels, but for Arcanum for instance it's just too zoomed out. I remember Fallout and Fallout 2 being much better for full resolution.

Maybe Planescape is more like the latter.
Excellent post. =)

I found Fallout 1 + 2 way too far back at 1680x1050 -- 1280x800 is perfect. But Planescape feels good. 1920x1200 could be a bit much but 1680x1050 is great.
Thanks for posting this! Deserves a sticky.

Paul_cz: Comprehensive mod guide for completely best PST experience is here:

http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2009/01/planescape-torment-fully-modded.html

Now, GOG version already has steps 1a, 1b and 2 done (incl. all ini tweaks).
Thanks for posting this. I followed the directions and it is working great! (Using Windows 7 Ultimate x64).

Allan

Well I'll play it by ear when I get around to playing it again... finishing up Arcanum now and then have Gothic 4 and Fallout New Vegas to play.

Cool that I can come to this thread when I am ready and get everything I need :)

Dang was just about to post this... I'm not sure if it's mentioned elsewhere, but

http://www.shsforums.net/topic/43616-how-to-deal-with-the-ddraw-problems-of-pst-and-other-ie-games/

This should help with artifacts/ cursor trails and other problems... I actually followed the solution presented in post #42, by nug and, a few posts down, -Erik- explains how to make the changes permanent. So far, I have no artifacts, game runs nicely and the amount of cursor trails have reduced dramatically (though are not absent altogether, unfortunately).

Tried this game on 1920x1080... Tiny, tiny, tiny sprites... In my humble opinion, 1280x800 is way more than enough :P

And thank you SO very much GOG. You guys RULE.
Thanks for the well done guide, dude.

Thank you very much for the link and demo images for this. I downloaded the mods while downloading PST, and 10 minutes later more or less I'm ready to fire it up.

I've installed similar mods on BG before. I wish new games could be so ingeniously modded with such small quantities of code. Quality!
Running Torment at 1366x768 now. Awesomeness! The sprites are a little small though, but I hope I'll get used to it. Thanks again for posting the guide!

By the way, I'm on 64-bit 7, and my game crashes as well when I close it. I can live with that though, since the saves are okay.

HEADS-UP:
I was unhappy with the super tiny sprites and the even tinier menu bar at the bottom of the screen and tried to reinstall the wide-screen mod and GUI fix for a lower resolution... and the only way to do that is to start over. I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the game, then reinstalled all mods, and that means I lost my saves. I was not far into the game, so no big deal, but something others might want to keep in mind.

Everything works great except the description text (by clicking on question marks) isn't aligned to its location. instead, it ends up popping up in the middle of my screen. What should I do?

Yes, like ChiliDragon said, a lot of these mods can't be changed or reconfigured without restarting the game, as the save files won't work anymore. Paul, you might put a little warning at the bottom of the post, so people know what to expect.
Thanks a bunch for posting this!
How easy would this be for someone who's never modded a game before?

Are there any special programs you'd need to open the mod folders once downloaded?

Is this worth doing if, say, you're already 6-10 hours into the game?

Very provided you can precisely follow simple instructions. It's basically like this: extract files to main game folder, run setup file, enter yes/no for various options (the guide tells you which to say yes and no to), repeat x3.

No special program.

Definitely worth it.
