So I installed the game and the widescreen mod. I would like to play the game in a resolution near the original resoultion. Unfortunatly, when I select a resolution lower than 1280x720 I get an error.

Now I found that the G3 Mod needs a minimum by 800x600. Is there any way to play it in a resolution like 896x504 ???

G3 widescreen mod definitely supports lower resolutions than 800x600, see attached image, but does your GPU support 896x504? It's not a standard resolution. You would need to add it as a custom resolution in your GPU driver settings.

Which resolution could I use? I thought every true resolution would be possible (Divisible by 8). Every resolution lower than 720p does not work for me. Sometimes I am able to get to the main menu but the colors are all purple.

I am using a AMD R9 380 with Crimson driver.

There are probably no resolutions that work that's close to 896x504 unless you specifically add it as a custom resolution in your driver options first.

Yes I tried adding a custom resolution but this does not work for me (like in your link) and says that my monitor does not support the custom resolution. Maybe I have to play it in 720p...

If you're going to be using unconventional resolutions you should enable GPU scaling:

Worked for me! Thank you. Now my resolution is 1024x600. Its not perfectly 16:9, but it works fine.
