Stig79: Yup. Poor reviews are getting systematically downvoted while good reviews are being upvoted.
https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/64207/show-planescape-torment-enhanced-edition-some-love-on-gog-gogmixes/p1 And they are, of course, blaming it on GamerGaters or whatever since all the bad reviews are because of that Siege of Dragonspear mess. Suing people who give the game a poor review is a suggestion as well.
I don't see anyone from Beamdog stepping in and trying to debunk that false claim (again).
Montresor_SP: Just to make this clear, since apparently it wasn't from my comment on Beamdog's forums: I didn't suggest suing anyone for posting poor reviews. I was taking a pot shot at those who post baseless attacks about Beamdog being "The Parasites of the Gaming Industry" and the like. I was speaking in anger and more harshly than was warranted, and I sincerely apologize for this!
For the record, I don't work for Beamdog so my comments here, on their forum, or elsewhere, do not represent that company!
As for the "reviews" that came up almost immediately after the game was released for sale, both one-star reviews from haters and the just as predictable five-star reviews from fanboys: They say nothing about the game but speak volumes about the reviewers. They were attacking or defending a game which they couldn't possibly know at the time - because they were not out to attack or defend the game, but to attack or defend Beamdog.
Both sides ought to take a step back and look at PS:T EE on its own merits, instead of blindly taking sides in what has become a crusade for or against a company.
People calling Beamdog a parasite aren't making baseless attacks. Those people do have a point.
No need to apologize for anything. And nobody believes you are being paid by Beamdog.
Of course a lot of fans would avoid giving Beamdog good reviews. Last time they released something, they threw the fans under the bus and labeled them sexist and bigoted for complaining about bugs, rotten dialogue, shitty writing in general, and plot-holes. They also did they very best to spin this narrative on gaming sites and in social media. The fanboys are just doing what they were told last time "please give us good reviews because...gamergate is evil!"
They have made their bed, and they have to lay in it now. A company that begs people to post good reviews of their products don't deserve good reviews in the first place. What they did was actually encourage people to mislead potential customers when they did that.
