Who likes the zoomed in close look for this game? I tried the wide screen mod, and I just seem to like the normal view of things in this game. Wide Screen works well for Bgate, but for this, it seems the detail was designed to be "in close".

Really? Have you set it to the best widescreen resolution for your monitor and installed the UI mod too?
I will say that past a certain point, it does start to hurt the experience rather than help it; I still like the widescreen better, though.

Try 1280x800 -- that might be more to your tastes. 640x480 stretched to whatever just isn't natural.
I've got it running at 1280x720.

It looks perfect fo my tastes.

Do you have screenshots, by chance? I've restarted the game four or five times in various resolutions and I'm now on one that is tolerable enough that I can live with it, but still not perfect... and that is one I haven't tried yet.
hrmm.. I tried 1680x1050 for my 22" monitor. Was way to small for me to enjoy. I will try a lesser setting and see if I like it. (1280xsomething lower).

Here you are.

In the second one you can see the 80% bigger fonts

I have a 24" 16:10 Flat and this the resolution I liked most. Though, my screen doesn't support that many resolutions...

Oh yeah, *spoilers* (well not really, lower ward yard)

You'll be wanting 1280x800, it seems to be the best 16:10 aspect resolution for the Infinity Engine games - not so high as to make everything tiny, and not so low as for everything to be too blurry.

I actually agree with you, the game has a lot of detail in the animation and scenes that seems lost at higher resolution. I've played it both ways and prefer the lower resolution.

Thanks! That does look better than what I have now the sprites are not as small. My laptop is 1366x768, so I need to have Y at that or lower, which makes things a bit annoying. I'll definitely give the 1280x720 a shot. (And thanks for the spoiler warning as well, though I have played it before ;) )

You are not the only one. I have the widescreen mod but will likely uninstall it. But first I'm going to try something like 1024x768. I don't have the eyesight I did when I was a teenager and while the higher resolution is cool, and more real estate is seen at once, I think I like the original 800x600 better. Yes, I have the bigger fonts, etc.
Like people have been saying the game is great in 1280 x whatever but even in the original you get to see the great sprite work up close.
Finally up and running on a resolution I really like! :) Thanks again for the screen shots, they were a big help.
Yea... 1280x720 is good. I can at least make out some of the details. 1680x1050 was waaaayyy to small. I am still torn between this and maintaining aspect at like 800x600 or something.

What I really need is a 55inch screen to make up my mind.... hrmmmm.. ;-p
