Beta version of 1.5 is being tested by Steam users, so I suppose it'll come out when Obsidian works out its quirks.

That was 1.4, the beta for 1.5 got on Steam a few days ago.

What is so critical in this patch ? I'm halfway through the game (not much time to play...) and had no crashes, and no noticeable bug...

I had a look at the changelog, didn"t see clearly what new buffs there'll be ... But there's a ton of cool new features like changing portraits or respecing companions !

You can't respec companions unfortunately. You just start them at level 1 so you get a little more freedom with how they're built, but it's not a true respec.

well the most impacting buff would be that the summoned weapons do about 50% more damage, according to beta testers in the obsidian forums...
that is a pretty huge buff (that sadly isn't listed in the changelog)

Reever: So you can't change their attributes?
No. You just influence whatever feats and talents have.

@blotunga Hold your horses, mate. Wasteland 2 GOTY is near ( free upgrade for backers and early adopters, just like Harebrained did for Shadowrun). GOTY comes with quite a few new things, so no point in restarting again when that is releaed.

And for the impatient people, Obsidian said that they will try to bring the beta-patches on GOG, but they can't guarantee they will manage. Let the Steam crowd beta-test, i'll be happy with the final patch.

There are many cool changes. For example you can reset npc companions to lvl one in order to respec them.
Many changes to abilities and classes (cipher starts with 25% focus instead of 50%, blunderbluss doesnt insta fill your focus).
Many bugs where removed including bugs from which you were unable to use abilities.
XP from bounties are reduced so that you wont reach max lvl when doing a few bounties.
The list goes on :D
