Caine123: i always prefer gog.com but will it also be treated well like the steam version? updates, workshop etc.?
avatar
thecrius: This game has not an official mod support so there shouldn't be any workshop available.
Obsidian is not against mod, but it's not offering an official tool for it.

Patches will be available of course, usually GoG take a couple days after steam because there is different QA behind the two companies.

My personal rule is that if the game has a strong multiplayer component I'd prefer going for steam. If not, i'll go with GoG to support a non-DRM culture.
yes this is a good idea, i dunno how it is with unreal tournament etc.? which servers they use on steam.

Karriq: Game in active patching stage for now. GOG proved itself as best platform for purchasing old games. But this game proved - GOG is poor platform for purchasing a new games. Cause it takes a long time to release a patch on GOG.. Go for steam version. If you dont want to wait for fixes and stuff :)
I can't agree more. They were slow with patches for Divinity: OS, Wasteland 2 and now Pillars of Eternity.
As much as I love GoG, their support for newly released games is rather pathetic and I am positive that I won't buy any new games from GoG anymore until they sort this shit out.

It wouldn't be so much of a problem if the patch itself wouldn't be critical. But in some cases, like here, it is. People run into show stoppers.
If GoG wants to continue this type of business then they need to accept that a 9-5, five days a week work time is simply not feasible.
And to be honest, I don't see what the big problem is of one of those guys going online at home and remotely upload the latest patch. If I was working there I'd be happy to make it all happen behind my own personal pc and a beer within arm's reach.

Let's hope GoG Galaxy will make things better.
Less than 24 hours on a holiday weekend is exceptionally good service. Thanks GOG!
Steam. You won't look back!

Yazeed: Steam. You won't look back!
Until you get your account closed and lose the right to play anything you bought? But you can always hope it doesn't happen to you.
yes i prefer drm-free versions any day if there is no STEAM Workshop etc. but reading those comments at how slow with the updates they are this is UNACCEPTABLE! sorry, new games are here to be played and not to be watched.... sucks big times GOG!

will open a ticket and a new topic so they can see this specified!

Please send an application for employment to gog telling them you will work 24/7, including easter holidays, christmas, new years day and whatnot. They'll probably love it.

There is big difference in state holiday between various countries in the world. And Easter Holidays are in Central and Eastern Europe one of the biggest holiday in a year. And everyone spends this time with their families.

Myself, like many other people in this region, have turned off my work phone on Thursday at 5.00pm, and I will not turn it on before Tuesday 8.30am. And I don't give a damn if someone cries me a river next week, that I was not available when they felt entitled to my support during Easter. People just have to learn to have respect to different cultures and nationalities. You will most likely not get any support from US at 4th July, nor support from France on 1st May as well. That's how it is :)

It was big surprise for me and I was very happy, that GoG released the patch on Saturday. I did not anticipated it before Tuesday.

I am happy that Obsidian made this awesome game, but release so close to Easter was never a good idea ;)

It's simple:

STEAM client, fast (unstable?) patches and DRM

vs

Stable patches and standalone installers
