Must these patches (from 1.03 to 1.06) be installed consecutively (in order, one after another)? Or does the one single latest patch 1.06 collectively take care of everything before it? Also, how big is this patch? Or... would it be better to just wait for version 2.0?

Thanks
If you patch from an old version, then all subsequent patches must be applied in order. If you just download the current version, then it is already patched.

So, what you're saying is, it might be easier to just DL and then reinstall the entire game (latest version) again? Do you know if any of my old save game files would work?
In general, and for many of the patches, I recall hearing that save games are fine. But I can't promise that all of them said that, because my internal memory is failing. There are others on this board who might know. It was never an issue for me.

My saves went from 1.04 all the way to 1.06 and every hotfix. The real question is whether the game detects and applies retroactive changes all by itself or whether it's the patch installer which does so.
No that's not the problem. The problem is how drastic a change the developers had to make to solve any given problem. If they needed to make a change to the saves in order to make something happen, then it does not matter how the fix is applied... Unless the patch fixes the saves or if there is a save fix program or procedure. But even then, there are changes that might not be possible to fix. It all depends.

Obsidian was very specific at wanting to never break saves ever since releasing the game and every patch introduced retroactive fixes to saved games, so yes, whether those fixes are applied during the patching process or on game load is the main concern here.
Have a great life, sir.
