gunslinger_one: Just noticed GOG and Steam has Pillars on sale, Steam is $10.00 cheaper! Why wouldn't GOG keep an eye on these things and at least match a competitors sale?
Anyways, would rather deal with GOG , but for 10 bucks, will have to go Steam this time!
Well, I think we should be aware that what you pay for in GOG is not the same as what you pay for in Steam. They sell different products.
In GOG you truly buy the game: once you download it, it's yours, and you can install it on any computer, when you want, forever. On Steam, you don't actually buy the game; instead, you pay for the right to play that game... The different may appear subtle, but is important: on Steam, the game is never yours, and you cannot play it outside of Steam; Steam has the control on you playing that game or not.
Maybe at GOG, they know people will still be willling to pay more in order to trully get a DRM-free product. Or it could be that they try to compensate for possible losses due to piracy (I am not sure this makes sense). In any case, I guess the different nature of the products sold by GOG and Steam could explain the different pricing.
