I downloaded a torrent of the game and have been playing almost non-stop for at least a months now and am real interested in updating the version I have. I have v1.0.2 and haven't been able to patch it-I might be missing a necessary file. Please let me know what I need to do. I put in a ticket with GOG Support but have not heard anything in almost a week-ticket # is AUXQTJR8

It seems to me, most people here won't answer your question because you wrote you got your game from a torrent. GOG will not help unless you bought the game from them. Anyway i will try to bring some light into the update matter.

First of all there are different editions (Hero/Champion/Royal) - patches are incompatible to each other.
Then there are different versions (DVD- , Steam-, GOG) - patches being also uncompatible with each other.
Last not least - the (non cumulative) patches normally only work on the latest previous patch.
If you don't have all previous patches for your version/edition you would normally download (if you bought it here)
the already patched full-game installer.

So if you want to patch your PoE-Installation you first will have to find out what edition and version you have got and then get and apply all the patches until the current one (3.01 i think) in the correct sequence.

Assuming there is nothing wrong with testing a game with a let's say "decentralized backup" borrowed from a friend the game and the connected patching jumble you will make it nearly impossible to find all the correct patches for your "torrent-version". So maybe if you really like the game you might consider buying a full version of it alongside all existing and upcoming patches.

I'm playing that now in Story Mode-I just went up against 6-8 Raedric's Guards with my party of 5 so neat!! That was my hesitation to buy the game-the fact that I would have to pay and wait for something to be shipped here to play the new versions but I'm so glad I was wrong. This is such a great game!

In case you are unaware, it is perfectly legal to download gog games from a torrent. There is no DRM! on any game sold and held by GOG. It isn't illegal, and it isn't stealing. You are free to redistribute any games on your library period. Read their policy. DRM rights are given up when the publisher puts the game on GOG.

Oh, and here's another thief trying to justify theft. Redistributing commercial games, making them free for all and sundry *is* against the law, and has absolutely *nothing* to do with DRM. So no, you are *not* free to redistribute games for the public. Now I suggest that *you* go ahead and read their policy, thief, in fact here, I'll enlighten you:

Well, more importantly. Whenever EULA is at odds with country's constitution, the constitution takes precedence (for instance, even if you sign a form that your neighbor may shoot you in the face, he will still be prosecuted for murder in spite of your consent). Point is, in some countries, downloading copyrighted material is legal regardless of what EULA may claim. That being said, Bladebearer is from US so... Yeah.

Well Czech used to be. Essentially, our law used to allow users to download copy-protected content legally - I'm pretty sure it's been changed since. Util specifically prohibited by The European Court of Justice, movie piracy in Netherlands was legal. European Union pretty much put a stop to any of this in Europe, but since I already know of two countries where, until recently, piracy was legal and I know very little of legal systems of countries outside of Czech Republic, it's a fairly good idea to find legal status of piracy of a country user is from as opposed to EULA, since EULA is only marginally applicable in some fringe cases when it comes to ... Just about anything. Hell, some social sites have EULAs which would effectively facilitate identity theft.

So... none.
