Hello All,

Perhaps someone may have an answer for this. But I purchased this off of gog.com and downloaded the .dmg file (yes, unfortunately i'm stuck gaming on a mac...fiddledeedee). When it finishes downloading and I go to open the file it says "the following items couldn't be opened" with the reason code being "the image is not recognized". Has anyone faced this issue yet? i've downloaded the game three times to test and the same error occurs. I have a super big nerd boner that's waiting to inject itself into this game and this error is killing me, and my nerd boner. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

"items couldn't be opened" is a window and within the window it has the file name, followed by the reason. I should've taken a screenshot but I deleted the last .dmg file and am going for round #4 right now, will post screenshot if problem persists

This sounds like the exact same error my brother is having on his Mac. (I made a post earlier).

found a link but it won't let me post it, probably too noob on the forums. I searched "pillars of eternity mac error" in google and a few links down a forum post suggested switching resolution to a smaller TV/Smaller resolution and not at 1080p. I happen to have my mac plugged into my 40" 1080p TV so i'm thinking this could be my issue (and your brothers if he's doing this as well). If your broseph is having the same problem but still has the .dmg (mine probably don't finish until tomorrow) give it a whirl and see if it helps. I have my dookie monitor on standby ready to roll. Good luck gentlemen, let me know how it works or if you find anything else

Interesting. I will tell him that. He's on a really slow connection, so he doesn't want to keep downloading the file(s) repetaedly for nothing to happen.

This is usually a bad download; the image file is corrupt.

How are you downloading it? Direct download from the web site, using the GOG Downloader, or the GOG Galaxy alpha?

In my case, I know my brother tried using the GOG downloader as well as simply downloading the Mac OS X Installer itself.

He sent me a picture:

That picture is exactly what is happening to me as well. I tried using both the GOG downloader and the direct link as well with no success. my nerd boner continues to wilt

He mentioned that the GOG downloader just keeps stopping and crashing. Bah, feel bad for him, as I'm really enjoying myself and am 11.5 hours in.

Hopefully someone can help out.

Not that this is going to help your brother. But because I've been having gaming problems on Mac now for the last 3 years, I went out and bought myself a PC. This game, and what it brings to our world as proof of what is marketable and not marketable, was the straw that broke the camels back and forced my hand to drop the dough. I look forward to joining you in playing this game, and wish your brother the best of luck, hopefully scaled resolution will help or Obsidian/GOG come out with a patch. Cheers

Thanks. It apparently finally worked this time through the GOG downloader. Go figure. Have fun with the game :)
