lionizer: Everyone who tells people to just use 3rd party hacks or console commands to bypass stuff, please stop. Some of us want to play the game the way it was supposed to be played.

It is a major inconvenience that I can now no longer pick locks, and I very much regret installing the 1.03 patch since I had no issues previously.

Please GOG, give us the hotfix NOW. Why should we wait longer than the Steam guys? If a ruined game experience is the price to pay for a DRM free game, then tbh I would rather buy from Steam the next time :(

kmh12177: Lol, I'm not "telling" anyone to do anything. I simply provided an alternative for those who would be interested.

If it isn't something you are interested in, don't do it. Those who may want to now can.

If you want your first playthrough to be vanilla, then play it that way. It's your gaming experience.

Who are you to tell everyone else how they should play their game?

I'm not twisting any arms telling people how to play their game, you are.

maramot: No, that version of the IE Mod is called "IE Mod for 1.0.3.0526 Windows 4.6b" and works with the 1.0.3 hotfix which we don't yet have for GOG.
avatar
kmh12177: Well, it's working great for me.

Pre-patch, my game stuttered a lot, now its smooth sailing. I know it's patched because I now have AA off.
Do you mean you are using the modded Assembly-CSharp.dll file with your pre-hotfix 1.0.3.0524 version of the game?

Yes. I don't have the hotfix, and the mod works perfectly for me. I only have the patch.

Wait, let me check the nexus real quick and make sure .... I didn't see the "526" and "524" parts ...

Give me a few mins to check to make sure my info is accurate

Ok, checked to make sure .....

Yes.

From Nexus:

iemod- 1.0.3.0526-windows-4.6b

my main game title screen now says:

v1.0.3.0526 -IEMod 4.6b

I have the GOG version game, and the GOG 81mb patch only.

Working just fine.

Granted, I am only in Gilded Vale right now as I just started a new playthrough. But everything is working.
For all of those complaining, this is simply how the firm has decided to do business. They are anti-DRM, they QA patches, they give employees the weekend off, they don't announce release timelines. Some of these things I like, some of these things I don't, but I doubt any amount of forum whining is going to change their approach much.

Nowhere in the user agreement (which you read and agreed to... right? http://www.gog.com/support/policies/gog_user_agreement) did they promise that every patch will be ready RIGHT NOW and IMMEDIATELY. It doesn't even mention that they owe us any patches at all! They could release the update 3 months from now and that's entirely their prerogative. This isn't some mission critical site that promises 99.9999% uptime as part of its value proposition. It's a website for video games.

If you don't like, then vote with your wallet and buy DRM games from Steam.

Raider_MXD: From my point of view there are two simple options:
1) Automate releasing patches just as it is the case on other platforms. Provide delevopers a means to upload their fixes and then have some batch job that takes care of packaging the stuff and making ithe download available
Eventually.

Hopefully the complainers will soon follow your advice and leave this place much less hysterical.
I, too, experienced the bug that my rogue could not open any chests anymore after installing the gog 1.03 patch. I solved the issue by installing the Nexus IE mod for version 1.0.3.0526 (though my game was *.0524).
just replaced the Assembly-CSharp.dll and everything works fine for me now.

Thanks you for leaving this helpful comment. Now I can play the game with as much bugs AND have my custom lock-picker pick locks and disable traps again. She is a Monk. XD

That's some very useful information. I'm not even to the stronghold yet so I'm just going to wait on the hotfix. I'm truly not in any super hurry and just appreciate them getting patch 1.03 out so soon. I just wanted to make sure they knew about the hotfix which I'm sure they do. I also didn't realize their holiday's ran to Tuesday there which is awesome and I hope they all enjoy their holiday. I'm truly in no hurry although I'll admit I do get a little impatient at times until I stop and think about it. There's a lot of big reasons why I chose gog over steam and I'm sticking by those reasons. It's worth the wait. Heck I just found out I could get a backup copy of my Witcher games plus a discount off Witcher 3 when it comes out for putting my codes in here so I'm a very happy camper :D

I keep seeing CDProjekt Red mentioned in these forums a lot. Is gog related to them or partnered with them? CDProjekt Red is probably my favorite gaming company and I really appreciate the way they treat and care about their fans. The EE for the original Witcher turned it into a perfect game and when a lot of the little head busts or statues of The Witcher were broken during shipping they gave everyone a new one free of charge. I just like the fact that they created a game that they were passionate about and fans of. The Witcher books are amazing too btw. If these two companies are related then I'm even happier supporting them. CD Projekt has come a long way since their early days of just localizing kids games for their native language.
Who wants to put money on the fact that complaining will not stop even when the hotfix is released lol.

LOL, right?

Thankfully a big group of us don't have to worry about the hotfix because we can't even have the first patch. LOLLLLLLL.
I got excited just now, and downloaded Mac Patch v 1.3 from GoG.

I've got the Kickstarter Royal edition, with all the bonus items.

Alas, it appears that GoG haven't taken into account the extra signatures, and found that the patch wouldn't install on my install, citing incompatible versions!

Now I see what you mean. You've patched the game to 524 and applied the IE mod dll file. Yeah, I guess it works for you because you're near the beginning. As soon as I try to load a game with the IE mod applied over 524 I get an error message and a CTD :)

You have the first patch and it works, I explained to you how to install it, then you post you have no first patch.

I give up, SIGH!

The patch works, check the forum list for how to do it.

It's okay, comprehension can be difficult.

So, fuch it, just going to go ahead and delete 13GB of current files & re-download the 8GB installer, because GOG can't package an 80MB patch to save their arse.
