aaronljack: ---I'm guessing I typed it in wrong?! (see attached)

Hickory: You typed it completely wrong. Look again (above) at what I typed, and do it EXACTLY. To be clear, it is chkdsk (NOT chdsk), and there is a space between chkdsk and /f, and a space between /f and c:
Sorry about that. Pretty sure this is it exactly, but nothing happened. It claims that my access is denied as I don't have sufficient privileges. Apparently I have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode. Is there any way around this?

Do I need to press enter first to type it on its own line as a prompt or right beside my username as it automatically does? Again I apologize for the elementary questions.

Ok, you need to open the command prompt with administrative privileges. You haven't mentioned which version of Windows you're running, so I'll link you to this article on how to do that. Once you have opened with privileges, just type exactly the same. The only difference is that Windows will drop the nanny act.

Ok, so I've rebooted the computer using the command prompts and attempted to empty the temp folder. 2 things I should mention:

1) As you can see in the attachment, a few files refused to be deleted from the temp folder. Is that a problem?
2) A while back someone told me to create/move the temp folder from "C:\Users\Aaron Jackson\AppData\Local\Temp" to "C:\temp" (Which I actually empty). So currently I have 2 temp folders. Should I delete 1 of them before continuing with the download you recommended? I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right. Thanks for your patience!

Whoa recent update: Without me doing anything, I happened to notice that the game was installing itself via the Galaxy client (Currently at 28% installed - never reached this point before). Think I should let it run its course and redownload the DirectX stuff only if it fails?

No, this is normal. Windows and some applications will have temporary files open while they are working, and these cannot be deleted in the normal manner. Don't worry about files that cannot be deleted, at least at this stage.

This all depends on how your created or moved the temp folder. It is not enough to simply create a new temp folder. A working temp folder is pointed to by a Windows environment variable called %TEMP%. The folder that windows will *always* use is the one that the variable points to, not *any* folder called 'temp'. To move your temp folder, you need to follow a guide, such as this one.

Yes, especially if you have already run the CHKDSK as described earlier.

The game has installed and I'm in! Seems like that command did the trick. I appreciate you working with me! If it was up to the GOG customer support I'd just be sitting around waiting for a refund lol. Thanks again!!!
