Hey everyone. I'm not the very technologically savvy which just adds to the frustration I've been dealing with. I've bought and installed a few games from GOG using the Galaxy client without any issues. Yet, with Pillars of Eternity the problems don't stop pouring in.

First, I attempted to install the game using Galaxy and the most common issue is that it claims that I'm "out of disk space" which is simply incorrect. It needs approx 15 GB and I have over 370 GB of available space. I've tried every workaround and tip I could find on the net, but to no avail.

After several attempts to contact GOG, they sent me a stock email listing the 3 options to download the game.
1) Download it piecemeal via the "Game Backup Copies" within the Galaxy client - the game has apparently downloaded, but launching the setup phase causes other problems/errors and the install option on the Galaxy client still claims that I don't have any disk space after attempting to allocate it (stops after around 23%).
2) Download the GOG.com Downloader software - I did this and again the game seemed to download. However, after launching the setup application within the game's files it eventually stops early in the installation phase with the error: "Installation failed with code: -7". After closing out this screen it occasionally hits me with another error: "Unable to execute file: C:\temp\is-4QMN0.tmp....."
3) Lastly, I tried to download the game via the browser from their site which gave me similar errors to deal with.
**NOTE: I placed the "silent mode" on my Norton Security to temporarily turn off its functions while attempting all of these options numerous times, but it made no difference.

I apologize for the ton of info within the post. Though, for someone who is not experienced with the interworkings of computers and relatively new to PC gaming this is extremely frustrating; especially when GOG barely even helps.

Any ideas as to what I should do next?

A classic cause of incorrect "out of disc space" errors is due to low space on the drive your TEMP folder is located -- the installer needs LOTS of 'temp' space to do its magic. The first thing you should do is reboot your computer and then immediately empty your %TEMP% folder. If this doesn't help, move your 'temp' folder to a drive with more space. If none of this is relevant, then please give details of your drive setup, and where things are located.

Ok I've restarted the computer and emptied out all files that could be emptied. There were a couple that wouldn't allow me to delete them. Unfortunately, installation still fails. Again, I'm not well versed in terms of computers so forgive me for any dumb questions.

When you mention moving the temp folder are saying to redirect it from as it stands (%USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Temp)---->(C:\temp)? I've heard a few people mention changing driver locations, but I'm assuming I only have 1 right? Even though there's plenty of space on it am I screwed? I'll provide more information as you or anyone else responds. Thanks.

If you only have one drive, and that drive has hundreds of GB of space, then the location of the temp folder is not the issue. Since you've attempted this manually and with Galaxy, with similar results, I have to say that my guess is your security software. It may not be enough to put Norton Security into 'silent' mode, you may need to disable it altogether, at least while you sort this problem out.

Sounds distinctly like AV/Security software interfering during the install. TEMP for you is located on C: which has plenty of free space. Norton's terrible, I haven't used it in a long time, but "silent mode" does not sound like it turns off anything except alerts. I would double check that as you want to actually disable it.

Well I disabled the smart firewall and tried to install the game via the Galaxy client first. It seemed it got ever so slightly further in the installation phase before telling me that there's not enogh disk space. Tried to install via the set up file that I downloaded through the GOG Downloader software and it gave me the same result as the previous tries. I attached pic of the error messages below. I really don't know where to go from here...

I think by actually disabling the "smart firewall" feature is disabling the security program as you suggested. Unfortunately, I ended up with the same result.

That error message in your screenshots is the system having trouble finding the packed files of Microsoft's DirectX. You can get around this by downloading the redistributable from Microsoft and running it as administrator (Right click >> Run As Administrator). Install this before you install PoE, and you should be good to go.

Crap I should've been more patient....I ended up downloading it in the Temp folder since that was the default. I don't know if it's because of that or some other reason, but I'm still getting the same result.

You really should move the default download location OUT of the temp folder. That is just asking for trouble. If you still have the setup file in temp, right click on it and select 'Cut'. Go to your desktop, right click on it and select 'Paste'. Now run it again. If you STILL have the same problem, then you definitely need to look more closely at your security software. As Gydion said, "silent mode" does not sound one bit like a disabled mode.

Oh, dear, that doesn't look good. That error is telling you that the temp folder is corrupt, and it would explain all of the difficulties you've been having. That error could be caused by a number of things, but the major worry is that you have a faulty hard drive. The first thing you should do is stop using the computer for anything at this time. Now it's time to check the file system, and hope it's just that and not your drive. Open up a command prompt (Start >> Run >> cmd) and at the prompt type (exactly):

chkdsk /f c:

Press 'y' when it prompts you to restart your computer. At restart it will check the integrity of your file system and correct any errors it finds. When you've done that, empty your temp folder and redownload the DirectX redistributable.

You typed it completely wrong. Look again (above) at what I typed, and do it EXACTLY. To be clear, it is chkdsk (NOT chdsk), and there is a space between chkdsk and /f, and a space between /f and c:
