So far unable to get to work properly under win X. I've been able to run all the rest of my GOG games without major hiccups, but Pharaoh has one that has me baffled. I'm not expecting a solution; they're still working on 10. Just if someone else does have the same problem ad gets it going, please let it be known. I can get it to run in most compatibility's or no compatibility. The problem is it activates the windows key repeatedly and I can not keep the game in the main window. It keeps getting minimized. Strange to watch. Yes the I've run the gamut of turn off UAC, disable virus, tweak shadow. I'm more than ninety percent convinced that win 10 and Paroah are an unhappy marriage. Though, like I said, my regular roster of GOG is happy.

Terribly similar, Caesar 3, dusted it off. I hadn't played it in a while. Wanted to see if it had the same issue. Yep. So 100% Windows 10. This was running fine on this computer before the os upgrade, and there have been no hardware changes.
Windows 10 probably removes most of the code that these older games need to run properly. I didn't think Windows 10 was even released yet, so I'm not really surprised if it's not even working yet.
Windows 10 isn't officially out yet, so you're in unsupported waters.
I just installed Pharaoh + Cleopatra (CD version) on my fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. Seems to load and run fine. Also applied the widescreen patch, works well so far. I haven't played more than 5 minutes, so I can't vouch yet for stability issues.

casear 3 is having win 10 problems as well. Sounds keep repeating and I've tried every possible fix. Worked fine b4 win 10.
Windows 10 is a fairly recent release. If you are experiencing bugs with the game on Windows 10, the best way is to report them to GOG support via the contact form. Unless someone in the Pharaoh game community has managed to install and play the game without bugs on Windows 10, very few can help out (I know I can't, since I still have Windows 7 and absolutely refuse to update for any reason)
GOG - Pharaoh and Cleopatra is in trouble on Win 10 (when you open the game it closes immediately). But also have the version of the Sierra Games, it does not. I noticed that when I use the hack to increase the resolution is that it happens.
Important: in GOG + Zeus Poseidon the same Sierra sold by GOG it's not happening on Win 10.

Which widescreen hack are you using? I'm using the 1080p hack from Crudelios on W10 with no crashing problems at all. If you are using Jackfuste's hack, it's probably not compatible, so use the one from Crudelios instead.
Hello everyone,

Sorry to come back with this old issue, but I have tried all the solutions I found in the forum to make Pharaoh run on Windows 10 and I am still having problems

I have downloaded the widescreen patch, disabled UAC, run as administrator and used different compatibility modes (Windows XP packs 2 and 3 and Windows 7). I manage to run the game and even play it for a few minutes, but then it freezes so bad that I have to restart the computer, not even the task manager works…

I really love this game, as all of you do… I have different versions (original and pirate) and I have just acquitted the GOG version hoping they would have worked it out. I believe I’ll just have to ask for a refund,

Best,

Some freezes are caused by trailing engine bugs (for example, you may get a freeze during naval invasions). Nobody else has had issues on Windows 10, and most issues are solved by disabling UAC and using the widescreen hack. You are unlikely to get a refund if the issue is simply a game engine bug.
Hey Shukaku,

Thanks for your reply,

I don't know if I understand what you mean by "engine bugs". Is it something I can fix?

I reinstalled the game, no UAC, widescreen hack, and after 2 minutes it froze completely... Nothing was really happening, I was just building a road. Again, it froze so bad I had to restart the machine

are you playing it on Windows 10?

Are you running it in compatibility mode? which one? I tried Windows XP and 7...

Any other tips?

Thanks a lot,

Best

PS: sending a image of my DirectX Diagnostic Tool...

Engine bugs are just bugs that exist in the game engine and no, they can't be fixed. Some were meant to be fixed throughout the course of patches (which are already installed in the GOG.com version), but a few bugs still happen anyway.

Yes.

Nope.

Which widescreen hack are you using? Is it the one by jackfuste or the one from crudelios? Are you making sure to install the hack for the Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile version and not the one for regular Pharaoh?

If you are using jackfuste's hack, then please remove it and try the one from crudelios instead: http://www.wsgf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=14149&p=165662#p165662

Shukaku: ...
I didn't realize there were different hacks. Do they work any different? The only thing that kind of annoys me about the one I'm using is that the advisers screen doesn't appear in the center of the screen, compared to C3's hack in which it does.
Yeah Shukaku

You did it again... you helped a fellow gamer...

Thanks a bunch... I am making a toast to you as I write this

Cheers,
