Like Mayberrymedic and George67, I am having the same problems with my Phantasmagoria 2 download/installation. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and have turned off the antivirus and UAC.

The file downloads as an .exe file with the proper setup_phantasmagoria_2 name. When I open it, it checks for file integrity and then gives the error "The setup files are corrupted. Please download a new copy of the program." I receive the same error message even if I hit the "Skip" button during the file integrity check.

When I download via the Internet Explorer 8 web browser, the download dialogue box indicates that it is only 1.27 GBs and when it downloads completely into the folder the file's properties indicates that it is only 1.27 GBs. When I download via the GOG downloader application, the application first indicates that it will be a 1.7 GB file. When it begins the actual download, it changes the message to a 1.3 GB file. When it finishes downloading, the file is 1.27 GB, the same as downloading through the browser.

In both instances, the file version is listed as 1.0.0.13. The server from which it is downloading is wpc.11df.edgecastcdn.net.

Namur, I noticed that your version is the proper 1.7 GB and that the dialogue box is in a language other than English. What version is your file? Perhaps you have a different version than the one we have downloaded. Could you please check your file version and report back to us? I am located in the United States, by the way.

Please note, I have downloaded and installed Phantasmagoria 1 fine on this PC, therefore I know it is not a problem with my Windows 7 settings. I have also attempted to download Phantasmagoria 2 to my laptop running Windows XP Professional 32-bit and have received the same error. I have not had any sort of problems with my Internet connection. The file size on their server is definitely only 1.27 GB.

It appears that this file is corrupt from GOG's end. I’m assuming that they uploaded a new version of the Phantasmagoria 2 program to their website that is either missing files or has a corrupt file. I sent GOG support an e-mail with the information above as well as a copy of the DxDiag report so they could see my system information.

Mayberrymedic and George67, have either of you heard back from GOG yet? Does anyone else have any new updates or suggestions? Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

The dialogue box is in Portuguese because my Win7 runs in Portuguese.

The version of my file is 1.0.0.13.

mye582rs: Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, yea, I know what you are talking about. Where you mentioned in your reply that all I need to download is a "setup_phantasmagoria_2.exe" file, ok, how do I get it, how can I find it, it does not download to my computer from GOG; nothing like the file name that you stated in your reply. That is what is frustrating to me, I can not activate, or find any files to do with Phan. 2 except the "Set Up File" and that is it. Sorry, this whole thing is just getting so frustrating, sorry:(
Ok, the easy way is this:

Go to your "My account" page, click on the game cover, click on the link "download using browser", when the dialogue box comes up pick the option "Save" and save the file someplace on your PC.

I can confirm the corrupt files issue as well. Downloaded the game on March 29, version 1.0.0.13.

The size in details says 1.27GB while Windows Explorer says it's 1.33GB.

Yeah, the file is corrupt at whatever node you guys are getting it from then.

I downloaded it again a couple of hours ago to make sure and it's coming with the right size file and it passes the integrity check ok.

Just redownloaded (download from web), still the same issue.

This happened a few times before with other files, and it's one of those things only the staff can fix, and usually they fix it pretty quickly too, once they pick up on it.

I've mentioned this in the bugs thread to see it it gets some attention, here's hoping for a quick fix.

That's what I was thinking. Apparently we're getting ours from a different file location when we attempt to download from here in the United States than the one you're getting when you download from Portugal. Still, it is good to see that there still is a working version of the file out there, meaning that they should hopefully be able to fix it fairly quickly.

You're welcome mate. Probably there's not much it can be done before monday, the staff doesn't work weekends, but i'm sure the community will manage to bring this to the staff's attention on monday and that will hopefully lead to a quick fix ;)
I didn't know that we caused such a fuss! I have read all of the reply's since last night (for me) and all I can say is THANK YOU very much for all of your insight and help that you are trying to provide. The problem is exactly the way the Win 7 people are having. I guess there is no hope until Monday. But again, I appreciate all of your support. Your cooperation has stimulated once again my support for communities like this one. Oh, what the hell is a "Portugal" download:) :)

mye582rs: Oh, what the hell is a "Portugal" download:) :)
eh, eh, that means that while we all get the same files from gog, we don't get them fom the same location on the web (servers and mirrors and that kind of tech stuff), so in this case the file is ok on the location where i'm getting it from but it's not at the location you guys are getting it from. This isn't something we get to choose though, it's something 'assigned' according to where each of us are located on the globe ;)

Exactly. Mye582rs, if you look at Namur's information you'll see that he is located in Portugal whereas we are located in the United States, which means that he's getting his download from a different server. It wouldn't make much sense for us to have to download the file directly from wherever GOG is located in Europe, so we're probably getting our download from a server or mirror located somewhere here within the U.S. Technically, this should work to our advantage in the form of faster download speeds, I believe. Unfortunately, in this instance the location that we're getting the file from has a corrupted file, whereas the file Namur's getting his from in Portugal (or wherever in Europe that server is located) is perfectly fine.

Hopefully they'll be able to replace the corrupted file on the server pretty quickly, or at the very least send us private links to download the file directly from the same server that Namur is using.

Well, I am glad that turned out alright. I was worried that I had done the nasty, or something like that. (kidding of course) Again - thanks for all of your help, all of you. I would publish all of your names, but, well, it would take too long:)
Could you guys try redownloading the Phantasmagoria 2? It should be fixed right now.

The file is now showing as the proper 1.7 GB size. I'm currently downloading it as I type this. I'll report back as soon as it finishes :-)

I can confirm that the file downloded and installed correctly. The game is running fine with no issues. Thank you everyone for your help, particularly Chamb (or whichever member of the GOG team responsible) for fixing the issue and Namur for helping to bring the issue to the attention of the GOG team :-)
