What is the maximum resolution allowed by the game? Does it support anything higher than 800x600?
Nope, that was the max, the 2 resolutions were 640 x 480 and 800 x 600.

I suggest you have a look at DxWnd, I can't test to see if the GoG version works with it but the CD version works and you can scale it up and down, and run it in a window as well.

Once I get around to it I will test the GoG version with DxWnd.
640 and 800?

and where can that be found? you see the game has a few little issues

1) it consumes quite some cpu and seems to 'lag' the game, mouse feels sluggish
2) also the GPU seems to get a little 'pounding' i could hear my cpu and chasis fans run wild
3) the biggest bad thing is no ALT TAB, as the pc was making a weird noise ( heavy cpu and gpu) usage
i want to check the speeds and fans, but, no alt tab so i had to close the game, by the time the game was clsoed the fans were running as normal so i cant find what was causing the heavy load (i wasnt running anything then my win7, and had 3 open folders thats all

no alt tabbing apps or tools work, vistaswitcher wont work, it makes things worse.
The game is old but i have older games that do support alt tab.

Other then this the game is fun.

how do you change res? I only get 640x480. 800x600 would be a slight improvement if I knew how to select it.

I can't find any indication that Pax Imperia 2 supports 800x600. If DxWnd gets the game to run in 800x600, how does it do it? I can only imagine by "magnifying" and interpolating (which wouldn't help very much), but I'm not a technical expert.
Or is there a hidden resolution switch in Pax Imperia 2?

I can't figure out how to change the resolution either. I wish there was a way to run the game in a window automatically.

Have a look at DxWnd (see Zelif's post). I never used it myself, but according to the description, this is what it's supposed to do (run full-screen applications in a window).
