Swissy88: How does this game fry your motherboard?
iscagog: Hi Swissy
The fans are maxed out, and the temp hits the roof when I try to play this. Doesn't do it with any other game. The developers themselves have already said that it needs optimizing, but so far only recommend to turn off V sync, and lowering the graphics quality. It is a RTX 2700 super, and like I said, does not do this on any other software.
Only played 12 mins so far, but thought I'd wait to see if the devs came through with the optimization. Instead, they want more money to add on another unfinished part of the game.
That typically is a good thing but not if it's too high, I have some games push my GPU around 75 but from 10xx series and on they have a sort of power/temperature adaptation system, can't remember what it's called, but if it heats up too much it'll automatically lower performance to lower temperature. The two things are tied together.
If you have nvidia control panel, I'd go into Manage 3D settings and manually add Patron, and try to cap the frame rate to your monitors refresh rate.
I'd try:
Power management mode > Adaptive
Background Application Max Frame Rate > Can set to something very low to save energy when alt tabbing like 20, or your max monitor.
Max Frame Rate > 60fps, 144fps, whatever your monitors refresh rate is.
I assume because it's a 2070 that your case/build is relatively new, but if you have a stuffy case, the temperatures can get too high very quickly. If you don't have a full array of push/pull fans set up on your case, (maybe a prebuild?) you might want to try taking the side panel off and see how it behaves.
I use HWInfo64 to monitor my temperatures.
