because XAudio2_8.dll is missing from my computer. Try reinstalling...

They are making noise about it on steam. Check your folder to see if there is a "Win7.exe" file. They made that as a work around a few days ago, but who knows if it came here or not.

It is true we don't have official support for Win7. SInce Miscrosoft doesn't support them themselves, it's making our life miserable too :(
Still, we did make a separate build for Win 7, and it did work on all our WIn 7 test machines as well as number of Steam users with same issue. It is unofficial but can definitely help in a lot of cases:
Navigate to game installation folder and start the game directly on "Patron_Win7.exe"
