Hi GOG!
after the last update from Avira Antivir, this program found a virus (TR/Obfuscated.ahkr) in the file "...\Patrician 3\WalType.dll". I de-installed the game, downloaded a fresh installer from your website, re-installed the game, but to no avail. Avira warns again from a deadly, mind-melting computer virus from outer space.
So ... is this a false positive? Can you verify this perhaps with other virus scanners?
This question / problem has been solved by Grahimage
It looks like a false positive mainly because its in the game directory and not your system 32 file. You can start searching yourself though by running it through other scanners and see what they say. I recommend Malware bytes from:

If its anything nasty it should show up on that program as well. You could also use kapersky or panda online virus scanners just to check the patrician folder out.
Well ... Anti-Malware (after a full scan) doesn't find anything.
But the Kaspersky AND Panda online scanner flagged "WalType.dll" as infected. Kaspersky with the same virus as Avira mentioned and Panda flagged the file as "suspicous".
Perhaps GOG.com might want to contact these companies?
You probably want to email gog support with your findings so far then, perhaps they can look into it and clear up if its a false positive or a virus that will need to be removed from the game asap.
Hi Harzzach
I've checked that file you mentioned and indeed latests virus database update will bring this alert on some virus scanners. I've contacted them explaining whole problem and asked for closer investigation on this particular file.
It looks like this file fall into some patterns that were updated lately and therefore rise that exceptions.
I'll let you know the results. I hope I'll got some answers today.
Best

Hi,
I've just received feedback form Kaspersky antivirus.
Fast translation is sth like this:
"Indeed this is false positive. Correction to database will be made in next database update. Sorry for trouble"
So - fear not :)

Grah,
Would you mind contacting Avira about this as well? It still registers that file as infected.
The same happens with Ad-Aware. Luckily the DLL was only quarantined ;)
Okay, sorry to hijack this thread, but it concerns the same problem.
I tried to install Patrician 3 to my computer, but after a while, F-Secure 2010 told me there was a trojan file (trojan.generic.2810822) in the patrician folder (the same waltype.dll) and it deleted it. Neat...
Well, I put the antivirus program down to be able to install the game. Okay, it went fine. But after I put the F-Secure back on, it deleted the "trojan file" again.
So, is there a way to play the darn game?

You can add the file or folder in question to your AV exceptions list.
I have the exact same problem, so far no one has put out a solution that i could use, because as of right now I cannot install the game. I use webroot antivirus
