Apparently Ice-Pick are in the process of making a pitch video

If you ask me, a remake isn't necessary. The game is already excellent as it is. The graphics have aged quite well; the melancholic late-autumn atmosphere being one of the things that attract me to the game the strongest. The only thing that might be improved is the translation, but they don't need Kickstarter for that.
I agree. A remake isn't necessary, but a sequel, prequel or just a game with similar style (themes, game mechanics etc..) but with modern graphics I would likely pledge to.
I just want a proper English translation as the graphics are secondary to me :)
Agreed, story (in this case translation) rates much higher on my list of desired attributes than anything graphical.

Is there any possibility GOG could pull together the resources to make this happen? Or is that a little too extensive in comparison to configuring compatibility and some bug fix stuff? =O (As in, I'm guessing there may be a host of strange bureaucratic and/or legalish issues to deal with?)

We're a distributor of games and even if we hypothetically did something like this, it would probably take something away from the game somehow. Not sure how to explain it but perhaps people would look at something like this and possibly suspect our motives since we are a company and not an individual? Just so you know, this is just me theorizing about any of the possible outcomes of such an action.

You're absolutely right about that. I see GOG as an antique dealer, selling old jewels in a preserved state, modifying them only to the extent they need to be modified in order to work on modern systems. Like art restoration – it uses minimal intervention in order to reverse the effects of time, decay and vandalism. Adding something to them, even just better-looking graphics, would violate the developers' original vision. You might say that the modification is in accordance with that vision due to technical constraints that developers had in the past, but it's still tampering with somebody else's work of art.

Ooohh major DUH moment for me here. I'm sorry, I meant the translation bit in particular, not a whole remake or anything like that. I had this and the Translations thread open and it completely escaped me that not mentioning translation anywhere would completely change how my post sounded. D=

I thought I was referring to the translation :)

Even something as innocent as a translation effort headed by us might not be perceived all that well due to the fact that we are a company not an individual and whenever a company gets involved it just skews everything, even if it's someone who means well :) Again, I am not sure if I am explaining this properly so feel free to ask for clarification at any time :)

Gotcha, gotcha. I wasn't sure which you might have been responding to since I didn't indicate what I was asking about in my post. Thank you very much for the responses! =) [Except now I realize I didn't because it was in your post which I quoted...I have gotta be more circumspect...]
I would also argue that one of the creepiest aspects of the game was the poor translation. Obviously unintended, but made the game a lot scarier for me. Just more unconventional horror from this great game :)
