Lingxin: A normal download should not cause a crash or reboot. I am assuming there must be something else causing that.

But before pondering, check if your download now is successful when you start Galaxy in admin mode.
I'll try that tomorrow, thanks. I'd like to add that, after these crashes, when trying to resume the download, it failed and then there was a message about a gog server failure. So I assumed that the problem is not on my end.

I understand that line of thoughts of yours. If there is a message which says server failure it is definitely not on your end. Just, still: regardless whether a server failure or download in general - it should be impossible that to cause a Windows issue unless there is something very very very wrong with Galaxy.

In that case it would make sense not to reinstall the game, but reinstalling Galaxy (you get to keep your games on your drive without the need to redownload - after a Galaxy reinstall it recognises your game you had before again when done right).

That is why I suggested the attempt with admin rights. I believe your drive on SSD/HDD has enough space to begin with, correct?

Yes, there were 80 GB of free space on my SSD when WotR was still installed.

A few days ago I activated TPM 2.0 in my UEFI for the "health check" that is needed for a potential Windows 11-upgrade. Could that be part of the problem?

Yes, it could be. I have read something about that on Steam forums. It seems to work better once you actually upgrade to Windows 11. But I cannot say that with 100% certainty. I just know there are issues related to the TPM 2.0 which can make your PC unusable under certain circumstances I am not understanding myself.

A friend I know already upgraded to Windows 11 and they are surprised that it works so well. I have also read, despite WotR is optimised for Windows 10, that it works very well on Windows 11 too!

Though again - I am more suspecting a Windows issue and it just happened by accident to be triggered by Galaxy with the download. Since: patches are basically in need of writing access for your drive.

Ha! Before going to work, I used the time to deactivate TPM. After that, I checked Windows Update to see if it is now complaining about that. Instead, for the first time it offered me to upgrade to Win 11.

We’ve prepared a hot-fix for better crusading.

The issue fixed in version 1.1.0k is: in the tactical battle, if a demon unit teleports, it teleports into the square occupied by your unit, and becomes untargetable. Now the demons will teleport as all proper demons should, and you will be able to avenge your fallen soldiers.

Dear Jon Irenicus,

It could cause issues with Galaxy and Pathfinder as well because this system not only checks your PC but also upgrades some of the drivers including video and SSD/HDD configs. The best way would be either to move to Win 11 or not to check the PC for Win 11. Currently, all these tools influence the PC in general.

Well, thanks for the info. If the damage is already done, I can as well check out Win 11. Who knows, maybe I'll like it. :)

That was fast. I was not expecting anything for another few hours, considering the bugs around the follow up camera and the CharacterGen screen issue with sorceress.

The team is working hard on the new updates and fixies. Also, kinda spoiler: an awesome surprise is waiting for all the players closer to the end of November. Let's keep it in secret here :)

So here's a little update on my special case:

I upgraded to Win 11 (I wanted to test it anyways) and after that, I tried to install WotR again via Galaxy. Sadly, it crashed my system again after almost 5 GB.

My next try was to download the offline backup installer via Galaxy. -> Crash after 7.something GB.

At the moment I am trying to download it via browser.

What file format is your hard drive running on? SSD? HDD?
