Black_Hart: I mean what were the devs thinking? A game is supposed to be fun and I have enough deadlines at work.

EverNightX: I don't think anyone really enjoyed that in Kingmaker. I don't think anyone loves encumbrance or getting fatigued either. But I'm sure they were going for realism.
Realism... yeah, OK. Realism in a game with magic, dragons and undead elves xD . Come on.

I get that some devs want to make a game as close to a tabletop as much as possible, but there is no reason to exaggerate. For example, I much prefer Solasta in this aspect (also I think it's a much better game overall) - you have to have some food supplies during traveling, but you don't have your party members WHINE ALL THE TIME!!!: "Oh, I'm hungry when we stop!", "Oh, I'm hungry when we stop!", "Oh, I'm hungry when we stop!". Jeeeez... STFU already.

You have encumbrance in almost every RPG, but that's understandable. Kingmaker is a broken game IMHO. You got 1) Timed quests, 2) whining members during traveling, 3) woke BS like a barbarian with the biggest sword (very "phallic") and also filled with the most testosterone is a woman, of course (did you say realism?) 4) ridiculous difficulty spikes - like the Troll-king. After a hard battle after being beaten with swords, magic, acid and whatnot after just a short conversation he regenerates not to 1/4 health, not 1/2 health but 100% health. WTF!

It's realism within the setting of the game world. That game world has both a calendar and dragons. Thus dragons and time are not unrealistic in that setting.

You don't have to like it though. I could care less.

My opinion is that realism that adds to fun is good and realism that subtracts fun is bad. So on the time management stuff I agree that it's not a good aspect of kingmaker.

It's ultra woke for sure.

Ancient-Red-Dragon: It's ultra woke for sure.
Why don't you give examples explaining why you think that. Just saying it's ultra says nothing. I can't even tell if you've played thru the game.
Having just finished it, I would not say it is "woke". What I found a bit strange was that women definitely felt overrepresented. The BBE at the end? Woman. The one that gives you the Commander job? Woman. The one you answer to at the beginning? Woman, Half-Orc Paladin. The tutorial? You and two women. Divine assistance? Woman. Demonic assistance? Woman. Enemies? Loads of women. Males feel a bit missing - and if they are there, they feel like an afterthought. Either bland and without background or douchebags - no male badass here. From the german translation I play, some loading screen texts assume you playing a female.
It feels a bit off here... but it did not disturb me much. I thought this was to "atone" for having Chris Avellone on the last one, who meanwhile is canceled. And I do not know if this was Owlcat's decision or Paizo as the owner of the setting told them to do so.

tl,dr: Do not think too much on it. Call it subpar writing and roll with it. The whole "woke or anti-woke" drama is not worth it.

No, there is Anevia and Irabeth, Soseil who is exclusively into guys and that is about it, and to be honest, I don't find the mere existence of a gay character particularly woke. Its when it seems to be pushing a narrative, which honestly, this does not feel like.

I will be honest, I did eyeroll at the Anevia and Irabeth scene, mostly over concerns of things to come, but those fears proved unfounded. I didn't feel I was the subject of leftwing preaching throughout my playthrough.

OP, if you are contrasting it with BG3, its nowhere NEAR as woke. The start of Chapter 3 of BG3 in particular was obnoxiously woke. It was jarring how hamfisted the propaganda was.

That's about what I thought.

Black_Hart: How "woke" is WotR? Is it so glaring? In Kingmaker there was already enough of it.

Why do devs push it in the 1st place? Where is the "surplus value"?
Why are you so offended by the existence on non-european, non-male-centric, and non-heteronormative realities?

Are you even serious or is this kome kind of attempt at irony?

Thank you for this info. Well, I was asking because in Kingmaker the most badass testosterone-filled barbarbian with the biggest sword was... a woman, who of course had to preach about how being a woman in barbarian society in hard LOL. And the most stoic paladin - a woman. And later the couple half-elf female and half-orc male that proposes some kinda threesome, LOL.

For me it is totally immersion-breaking. Fantasy is/ always was a world which was "far, far away", "once upon a time" - a place where one could rest from all contemporary politics and BS. But now, sick rainbow ideologists have to destroy EVERYTHING they touch and and push woke propaganda whenever, wherver. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars. And movies are not enough. They do the same things to games.

I wonder what happened to "innocent until proven guilty". Johnny Depp likes this ;)

Yes, I think this is pretty accurate.

I came across a mod the other day that purports to 'dewoke' whatever wokeness there is in the game. Google 'Wokeless Wrath of the Righteous' and you should find it.

I uninstalled this game right after I met the character "Nenio"

I was already on the fence after 90% of the characters I met were 1: Female 2: Lesbians 3: Insufferable girl bosses but "Nenio" was the last straw for me.

That should give you an idea of how woke this game is.
