I just started playing (since mac/gog) and can't see tooltips when I hover over abilities etc. (occasionally they appear, but usually this is very brief). This is uhhhh pretty stressful since I can't get into the in-game encyclopedia to see what anything does until I actually create a character. Does anyone know a fix?

I am not familiar with mac but on windows, there is a huge performance drop in the main menu and character creator.
The game is extremely stressing the GPU and causing tooltips to lag.
You can force tooltips to show up in popups by right-clicking.
Workaround to help with the performance flaw is to set the game to run in "full screen borderless" and enable vertical sync in game settings.

There is also a bug which causes the game to not save the settings. So you may need to enable vertical sync each time you run the game.
