Hickory: Your logic is idiotic because you are trying to argue a non-case just because you want something that's no longer available. My logic is not in question.

ieolus: You can kindly stay out of this thread from now on. Thanks for your cooperation.
Request denied. What a numpty.

ghiknt: While that is the case in some games it does not appear to be so for this one. Linux users haven't gotten incremental updates since the 1.0.5 patch and haven't had each full update available and I don't think I have done any update that didn't skip at least one if not two versions. For instance I am updating from 1.0.11b* to 1.0.14b today and have had no issues with save file updates.

* 1..0.12 was available but the it had problems with missing resources so I skipped it.

ieolus: From everything I've read on the patch notes, it certainly is the case. I would love it to be confirmed otherwise.

Edit: And how are you skipping updates? Galaxy? I am using direct downloads.
I am doing direct download. Originally from web page but now with lgogdownloader (https://www.gog.com/forum/pathfinder_kingmaker/psa_for_those_linux_users_who_are_fairly_new_to_gog_like_me_and/post1) since it is much raster. If you are on windows or mac there is an official gogdownloader (https://www.gog.com/downloader)

Anecdotal: I played the same game up to middle of chapter 3 with the following sequence (each full update)
1.0.5_24205 -> 1.0.9_24479 -> 1.0.11b_24614.
I started a new game during 1.0.11b_24614 since I wanted to take what I learned about character development.

But if you are concerned I would recommend backing up the save game folder (https://www.gog.com/forum/pathfinder_kingmaker/linux_backup_saves_before_uninstallreinstall/post2). That way if it does break your save game you can include that in your message to GOG support on why they should provide ALL the incremental updates (which they should).

InEffect: I just keep it up to date with galaxy. never had to skip updates myself and patches are out faster there. don't know if galaxy can update from the outdated patch.
Apparantly GOG has the same broken policy (partial patch list) on galaxy:
"Since I was very busy past weeks, I didn't launch GoG Galaxy at all. Today, I discover my version (1.0.8 IIRC) was not available anymore and I have to redownload full game ! " (@mulock, https://www.gog.com/forum/pathfinder_kingmaker/unknown_version/post1)

I see this. It seems I have 2 options:

1. Start a new game from a fresh install --> get a refund and buy on Steam.
2. Find the missing patch somewhere else (torrent?).

If starting fresh from a new download is the only option GoG will provide, I might as well do it on Steam. I won't support a platform that won't support me.

You won't get a refund for not being able to download old patches. Entitled ass.

Edit 2: Here is but one example I was able to find in 30 seconds in the patch notes:

Amiri's sword repair didn't count in the companion's quest ("Reforged Blade"). Resolution: fixed. Affected saves files have also been corrected.
Note that nothing in the patch notes says that those updates don't carry forward permanently. When I code an update to a save file format/change. The code checks current version of save file and applies all updates needed to bring to current version. I am aware that not all developers do that although I think they should.

I contend that for all the bugs in this game so far that Owlcat appears to be updating saves correctly.
apart from old thing that corrupted saves it should be fine with re-install. what they did is added checks that fixed old issues.

I've tried to be nice, but you have gone too far.

Frankly relying on Owlcat coding these hotfixes correctly is not a safe bet, which is why we are in the position we are in now. Love the game, love Owlcat for being on top of this stuff; but cannot actually rely on this.

You won't get a refund unless you outright lie to support. From somebody who's prepared to use torrents, that's not a stretch.

Have a nice "entitled" day.

You have to make your own decision on where to spend your money and if this is a deal breaker for you going to steam may be best since the policies don't appear to be restricted to this one game.

For me...
#2 isn't and option for me.
#1 while I am greatly annoyed at how GOG handles patch files for linux. The primary reason I switched from steam to GOG was to actually own the games I bought (DRM free downloads that I could backup and restore as desired without having to go back to vendor to get) so I will continue to buy from them when possible.

I've never had an issue with GoG until this nonsense.

Then I would say stick with GOG and try to work it out with their support. They (GOG) have acknowledged that their systems are having issues with the current frequent updates by Owlcat (https://www.gog.com/forum/pathfinder_kingmaker/great_game_but_missing_patches/post16) so it should go back to the support you have enjoyed previously now that Owlcat is starting their 1.1.0 cycle.

The two issues I was referring to that annoy me right now is...
- the policy to only keep the last few patches for each game available. Looking at the four games I have purchased since I joined in April, For windows (I assume the primary customer) there are at maximum 4 incremental patches available for each game.
- for linux (my platform) there are fewer/none with gaps in the sequence even if I wanted to use them.

In general I am still just thrilled to be able to buy the games I want; for my platform of choice; the way I want to own them. But I will not expect incremental patches to work for any game I buy from this platform.

You really are a numpty, aren't you? *chuckle*
what owlcat should do is to release cumulative patch now that they are done with everyday updates. that would fix the problem both them and gog have atm.
