From reddit, it seems weaker enemy (enemy difficulty) with no adjustment (enemy stat adjustments) is closer to tabletop.

However it still doesn't help certain encounters that are out of place.

Enemies also get free feats to boost their abilities, but those're not calculated in cr unlike NWN. Tthe exp reward is crazy low like pillars while enemies scaling is like dos2 late level...

Hope there is a mod fixing those out of place encounters. Currently at lv4 and had to change from challenging mode to custom at level 2 due to random enemies can hit ac27 all the time, with a whopping amount of exp, 17.

cafeine_: There's a specific difficulty option called "enemy stats adjustement", use it.

Hickory: I am currently playing on "Somewhat easier enemies" and I've still come across untouchable/unkillable monsters.
Is it during random encounters, or fixed ones? Because playing on unmodded normal (so "somewhat easier enemies" just like you) the only time I've met an untouchable monster was heavily sign-posted as something you shouldn't be doing, or at least not when you're only level 2-3. Random encounters are fine (sometimes you stomp the monsters easily, sometimes it's a bit dicey, most of the time you can just avoid them though).

I'm not dismissing your claims, just trying to figure out what's happening (difficult since it hasn't happened to me so far).

Exactly. DM just won't put an Elder Elemental against lvl 2 party, while this game does. It is like game WANT to get your party dead, instead of giving you a GOOD FUN. Reminds me playing with a rally bad DM wh threat his players as enemies. I hope thay will change it some day.

P.S> I just encoutered some flying skull in Old Sycamore map where You find old camp full of adventurers bodies. All my attacks missed and i got decimated. Not nice.

That thing is even harder than an elder elemental with ac like 37, fear aura, and magic immunity. :/

And game also doesn't allow escape I think :/
I recall in my favorite PnP DnD adventure (in the 80s) when my character got split off from the group. I was traveling cross-country trying to get home. I walked into an encounter with a red dragon (I was a lvl 2 mage).

I lost that character who I had such high hopes for. I felt a little sad about it. However, I did not feel aggrieved. Shit happens.

Now that you have save/restore I don't see that this is a problem that calls for pitchforks and torches.
I just had a fight with a major villain in early chapter.

Despite being webbed, and failed his concentration check, and casting fireball failure shows on his head, he can still fireball against my party.

Is this even necessary? Feels so rigged. :(

Both. Found a dragon'ish type creature (random) that I can't remember the name of, in a cave. It would not die. It restored it's own health faster than I could hurt it, which was a very rare 1 damage (reduced). Then there's the creatures at the Dryad's tree. I was OWNED! Those are just two examples.

Honest truth, is you should not be there at your level. Think of it as it was living there and you chance upon it. When you gain 3 more level try coming back an wiping his ass on the ground.

However that being said, certain enemies are beyond the chart numbers, those are the issue. Not like i stray into a dragon lair then complain about a dragon at my level. More like +38 to Hit you and or they got 42AC, things you cannot reach.
