I have completed all quests except rival and I have cleared entire old sycamore area of any enemies and there is no kobolds or mites there which im guessing are needed to trigger the quest so I cant gain enty to the lower caverns or dungeon. with out completing this quest the game is completely broken and progression is dead dead for me. I have even loaded in previous saves and completely restarted the game, yet whenever i get to this point I am unabe to progress the story? Have I just not completed part of the quest and just missed something?

Did you go the the gate that requires 2 relic from both kobold and mite tribe to open? The gate is located near mite queen's base.

Cant even find the Mite's or Kobolds.

One of the other threads covered this and your solution might be the same.

The first time you get to Old Sycamore, you meet Keress (sp?) leaving. He tells you to find Tartucio (sp?) at the Pine Patch and adds a marker to your map for it. Go there and have your encounter. That should open up things at the Old Sycamore. Tartucio hasn't stirred things up there yet.
