So the game starts up, a guy comes out of nowhere and asks for my help, solves his own problems, and asks me to dock. Eventually i find out that it's the numberpad keys that i need (i'm on a laptop, so this is counter-intuitive) to use to dock. Easy enough. I dock, get name of either planet 1 or 4, undock and try to head to said planet using autopilot. I get ambushed by 3 to 4 pirates, even if i offer fuel, and i get slaughtered because, despite how slow combat is, they still damage me faster than i can damage them. Worse yet, i still haven't figured out how to fire missiles.

Has anyone managed to change key bindings or have any tips for wiping out the ambushes?

EDIT: Found setup.exe, so i'll make that clear for others having issues that it's in the game folder. Now, I still have the issue of why it seems so difficult to wipe out a pirate patrol. Should I be running, docking, or what?


EDIT2: Ok, so now that i can fire missiles, i know how to deal with ambushes, kinda. Seeing as they're so scarce, i'm still gonna get owned allot. But anyway, anyone have any luck on getting the "small jumper?" I can climb up the back but can't get past the railing.

Look for the 'CLIMB' key in the setup program. Should be 0 on the Numpad by default.

+ unless you already found out yourself, here are some more tips:

- Don't completely destroy enemies if you can help it - disable them, then dock+loot.

- Don't loot friendly targets (walking over their items when docked) - if you do this too often, they will turn hostile.

- There is an in-game manual on your ship. When exiting the cockpit, take the first door on your left, then walk up left and approach the terminal. This will tell you most of what you need to know about the game.

- Don't get into too many firefights until you have found at least a better weapon.

- To find out where the next item is hidden, dock to a friendly ship and check their computer. Find the system indicated and then fly from planet to planet until you find one with an orbiter. The orbiter will give you the information in exchange for some fuel. This is essentially how you progress in the game.

- If you fully clear a planet of all hostiles, you can colonize it for yourself by dropping off at least 2 robot workers and a mining transmog. Robot workers can be synthesized from robot corpses you find after destroying ships, transmogs can be stolen or traded for. This will allow you to harvest fuel from the planet after some time has passed. The other types of transmoges allow you to manufacture drones, missiles, or repair your ship.

The drive was in the middle of a pool on some platform. I could only climb up the back, but there's some kind of railing in the way. I managed to glitch through it, but i'd like to know the proper way incase i see one again.

Is there any way to target subsystems so i can disable them for the docking?

Is there any way to run from a battle that i can't win?

Is there any way to identify friendlies? That ship at the beginning got chased by 4 fighters, but as soon as one gets destroyed, the other 3 get very angry.

As far as I remember, you need to climb onto the platform and then crouch under the railing (key for crouching should be Ctrl). The other items are usually easier to get to though (mostly out in the open - challenge is finding them in the often expansive planetary bases).

No way to directly target subsystems, unfortunately, though most ships have one or several of their subsystems disabled before a last hit destroys them completely. Just don't fire too many shots at once and you should be good.

Running from battles is difficult before you find the generator upgrade. You can try to allocate all energy to the engines and engage your afterburners. Sometimes enemies break off after a while, though not always.

That's normal - the Astrons are this game's enemy faction. They start out neutral for some reason, which is why they are not shown as hostiles during the first encounter.

+ Another tip for combat: Always allocate energy to guns and shields before engaging the autopilot. This way you are prepared when a battle starts (shields+gun take a while to charge - engines and sensors do not).

The game makes you auto-crouch, but i did play with it. I kept spamming it while moving forward to glitch through it. Had trouble getting through the broken door, too, so maybe it was a glitch with how the game auto-turns you when you walk into a wall.

With a little bit of practice and good energy management, it is possible to be successful in combat even without any upgrades to the Parkan, though I usually take some hull damage in the process. You can also try taking non-combat missions from the clans (land on one of their planets, look for the computer, accept mission) but I usually rush for at least the generator and first gun upgrades. Only after that do I start taking missions, colonizing planets, etc.

I just got the first upgrade by glitching, I decided to transmog that planet, and now i'm lost. And do you have any idea how these mechanics work for the planet?
Sure. First thing you need to do is look through the list of planets in a given system. There are four bars which represent the planet conditions + resources. The green and pink bars are the two important ones. Green represents the planet's suitability for repair and production facilities, pink its available fuel resources. Your first colony should be on a planet with a high pink bar to ensure a constant stream of income.

Later on you should build at least one production base, wich supplies you with missiles, drones, and free repairs.

When choosing a planet to colonize, make sure that the planet is not occupied by any of the local clans, as you need to clear a planet of all robots in order to colonize it, which, understandably, would turn that particular clan hostile to you.

After dropping off two robot workers (mechanical embryo) and a Transmog (Geo cartridge for fuel, Tech cartridge for production) to colonize a planet, take off and immediately land again. If the colonization was successful, you should soon see by a robot of your own clan (=Parkan). If you don't and find only robot corpses, then that means you did not kill all robots on the planet, in which case I would suggest reloading and trying the colonization over again (always safe before trying to start a colony).

Now is all the resource production based on in game time or in game events? If i sit there in base like a douche bag and stare at my robots doing nothing while i eat a sandwich, will i gain resources? And do i have to find them in storage or will they automatically be sent to my ship?

EDIT: I head to another system for information, since the logical way to go. Told there's a recovery pod in another system, promptly go there to get jumped by Astrons (again) upon coming out, and they demand fuel, and, predictably, that doesn't make them and their 5 ship fleet (3 of which look big enough to be cap ships) which rip me to shreds in seconds. This is a very fun game, but starting out is rough.

EDIT2: Having an issue with an escort mission for a transport. It just spins in circles, even if i hit autopilot in it's computer.

Sorry for the late reply. In case you still need help:

Time passes when you cruise around in your spaceship. So simply engaging your autopilot to the planet furthest away from you is the fastest way to grind for resources in this game.
The resources are stored as pickups in your base, so In order to pick them up, you have to land at your base and walk over them in FPS mode.

Combat gets a lot more manageable once you found a few upgrades and decent drones. In the meantime, use missiles liberally for tough fights and make a beeline for the upgrade locations.

Never encountered the spinning ship issue, I'm afraid. Were you able to resolve it or does it still persist?

Persists. I just let the mission fail and continued on with my day. Now i gotta find out how to not suck at it, and find where i'm supposed to use this key i was given. Online says time machine or something, but I can't find any clues where to go next.
