Hello!
I'm trying to play Papers, please on my Arch Linux with nVidia GTX 770 GPU, and I get terrible 1s freezes every frew seconds right from the start. Switching to software rendering does nothing, and the CPU load never spikes, so I don't know where to look for solutions. The game works just fine on my other machine with the shitty Intel integrated GPU...

Hi there. I experience the same problem with Papers Please version 1.2.72 on Arch Linux, but using AMDGPU driver with RX 580 as stated on stdout from the game:

Renderer: OpenGL (AMD // Radeon RX 580 Series (POLARIS10, DRM 3.40.0, 5.10.3-arch1-1, LLVM 11.0.0) // 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 20.3.2)

Similar initial observations as Taomach: cpu utilization steady at 2%, no unusual filesystem calls, no pulseaudio rewinds or audio glitching, nothing in systemd journal, performance problems are strictly isolated to the Papers Please window and do not affect anything else. The window ceases to be redrawn at all for about half a second with 2 seconds of proper rending inbetween each freeze. No frames are dropped during these short freezes, in other words the game is slowed down by these freezes. Given the nature of the gameplay, it's technically an advantage---but a very annoying one not worth having.

Please let me know if there are any arguments to enable debug logging from the game itself.
Hello there.

I was hit by the same issue and I've found the workaround. One must replace lime.ndll library with newest version.

To do so:
1. Download latest lime.ndll: https://lib.haxe.org/p/lime/7.9.0/download/
2. Unzip archive, copy <archive>/ndll/Linux64/lime.ndll to <game_path>/game/lime.ndll
3. ?????
4. PROFIT!!!
