First, I apologize if this is covered in another topic, I know parts of it are in some of the threads here, but I wanted to try and provide a specific place to answer/point out some of the issues encountered with this game (please note there will be spoilers here). Let me say that I really like Paper Sorcerer and I think it's great just as it is, but there are a few issues that have really frustrated a lot of people. None of them is game-breaking, but it's annoying when a 'puzzle' is in front of you and you know the solution but the game won't allow you to execute it. As it stands, there are 3 main points to make about the 2.5 version that I am aware of, please feel free to post below if you have any updates on any of these or have other comments to make regarding the most recent version.
The 2 Negative points:
1. The altar puzzle on block 6-3 is still incomplete. You can use the fire jewel from 6-1 for a strength boost, but the chest that is supposed to contain the coral on 6-2 is empty when you first encounter it so you cannot get the other boosts.
2. The Chess Key puzzle that spans from block 7 to block 10 remains incomplete. Everything up to and including the battle with the Demon King and the acquisition of the King's Key can be done, but the King's Key is still not an option to open the 3 doors behind the demon king so you cannot gain the 'ultimate spell scrolls' without a very lucky lockpick by the goblin (I don't know if lockpick will open them, but the developer at one point said it could on his site's forum).
The Positive Point:
It seems, unless this was an error, that during this update, the previously exclusive to backers only summons were included for everyone. When I began a new game a few days ago, both the Dryad and Succubus were options to summon from the first steps out of the cell in block 1. They each have their own unique ending text just like the other summons as well as unique animation/images. For what it's worth, the Succubus plays pretty similarly to the Imp and the Dryad is similar to the Witch, but the variety was welcome and extended replay value.
I hope that at some point the optional puzzles will be fixed, but given that the developer is basically one person it may take awhile if it ever happens. It's too bad that there are these little issues that detract from an otherwise stellar effort in this unique game. I hope all is well with the developer and invite any updates, corrections, and commentary from anyone else who wishes to do so.
