EdL: Has anyone had PE multiplayer working, LAN only, on XP SP3 systems?
I've forwarded ports 47624 and 2300-2400 on my router and even tried with
Windows firewall disabled on both systems.
Neither TCPIIP - LAN or TCP/IP -Manual work.
Thanks!
I have PE MP working online and over Lan. I have tested this on 3 different OS's (xpSP3, Vista, Win7) In each case the Firewall was enabled. However if leaving the firewall enabled, you must give permission for 3 of PanzerElites .exe files to communicate through the firewall. In windows firewall open the exceptions tab and add these 3 programs to the list. (gameproject.exe, mymenu.exe and panzerelite.exe) Click "Add Program", click "browse", navigate to the root folder of the PE install, select the program you wish to add. You must do this for each of the 3 files mentioned above. Do this for all the computers you intend to play PE on.
I have a Netgear router.
I did not define a port range (2300-2400).
I did however define the start and end port as 47624 for both UDP and TCP and set my PC's "IP address" as the "Server IP Address"
To ensure that you are setting it up for the correct PC you can open Network Connections in winXP. Right-click on the LAN connection and click on Status, then click on the Support tab at the top of the window that opens. You will see the IP address of your PC there.
This is the IP address you must assign the port-forwarding to.
Each of the computers on your LAN have unique IP addresses. If your router does not allow you to set up the port-forwarding for "all or any" PC's on your LAN at the same time, then I think you will need to create separate Port-forwarding definitions for each PC. In this case you will also need to determine the IP of the other PC that you want to play from.
In LAN settings : My router is set up by default as a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server, which provides the TCP/IP configuration for all the computers that are connected to the router. "RIP Direction" set to "both"
I am not familiar with the Lynksys router setup, but I suspect the routers IP address is something like 192.168.0.1 This is the IP address that is visible to the internet. Each of the PC's connected to your network will have unique IP's generally they are in sequence ex. 1st PC would be 192.168.0.2 second PC would be 192.168.0.3 etc.
